Metrowest Symphony Orchestra Presents "Divas, Dictators and The Duke" This Saturday

The Metrowest Symphony Orchestra (MSO), in collaboration with The Berklee Singers, Northboro High School and Keefe Regional Technical School, will present a fall concert on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 7:30 pm at the Keefe Regional Technical School auditorium.

Featured selections include, In a Mellow Mood, Mood Indigo, Sophisticated Lady, Take the “A” Train, Don’t Get Around Much and Satin Doll by Duke Ellington, the Candide Overture by Leonard Bernstein, Prelude, Habanera and Toreador from the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet, and Rose’s Turn from the musical Gypsy.

HCA Fresh Visions Exhibit Oct 12 - Nov 9

Recently artists have extended the practice of painting considerably as they explore various styles, materials, and methods. The broad range of work that comprises contemporary painting will be displayed at the Fresh Visions: Painting Now juried exhibition at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, 98 Hayden Rowe in Hopkinton, from October 12 to November 9.

    Scenes from the HPTA Carnival

    The common was bustling with families on September 29th for the HPTA's annual carnival. The event, which was moved to the fall in order to provide a social atmosphere for families after summer vacation, featured games, a moon bounce, an obstacle course, face painting, Luna the clown, baked goods, and appearances by local businesses and organizations. As one of the HPTA's biggest fundraisers, all proceeds from the carnival will go directly to benefit Hopkinton's schools.

    Hopkinton Public Library Foudation Announces Heritage Quilt Project

    Become a part of history! Hopkinton Public Library Foundation (HPLF) announces the Heritage Quilt, a project to raise funds for the restoration, renovation and expansion of Hopkinton Public Library. Marathon Quilters, a small group of local quilters, will create a quilt that looks like a bookcase in our library, except the spine of each book will proudly display the names of those donating to this historic project. Families or individuals may purchase the spine of a book for $75.

    Hopkinton Cultural Council Seeks Funding Proposals

    Proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science projects due October 15, 2012.

    The Hopkinton Cultural Council has set an October 15, 2012 postmark deadline for organizations, schools and individuals to apply for grants that support cultural activities in the community.

    According to Council spokesperson Jean Bertschmann, these grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Hopkinton -- including exhibits, festivals, short-term artist residencies or performances in schools, workshops and lectures.
