Hopkinton Historical Society: Celebrating Hopkinton's Fitch Family: How One Family Influenced Our Town & America

Establishing roots here in the 1700s, the extended Fitch family made significant contributions to the life of Hopkinton and beyond. Early members included the prominent clergymen Elijah Fitch and Nathaniel Howe. In the 19th century, family members were farmers, town employees, abolitionists, political activists and Civil War soldiers. Descendants include best-selling children's author Lucy Fitch Perkins who spent her high school years at the family home, Elmwood Farm on Ash Street, still standing today.

The Hopkinton Fire Department kicked off Fire Safety Week with their annual open house. The event allowed the hardworking Men and Women of the Fire Department to show off some of the equipment they use and to educate about some of their daily tasks.

Our club’s general meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. The speaker portion is at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. New members are welcome any time during our club year.

An evening filled with fun, delicious food & drinks, entertainment, community networking and cultural shows that represent multi-cultural aspects of the Indian Sub-Continent.

Hopkinton Resident, Don Cronin Wins National Award

The Alliance for Community Media held its annual convention and video competition in Portland, Oregon this summer. The annual video contest judges video entries from across the country. Community Television producers were allowed to submit entries within a variety of categories ranging from documentary, sports, arts and culture. Hopkinton resident Donald Cronin was the director of the local Holliston based TV news/magazine show, “Heartbeat of Holliston” which won first place for best news magazine show. The show is produced by Holliston resident Chryso Lawless.

The Hopkinton Senior Center hosted an open house as well as their annual Bocce event featuring the Senior Center staff, Seniors team, Hopkinton Police and Fire. The Seniors came in strong this year and looked to earn their first Bocce challenge championship. View scenes from the open house and Bocce event below!
