Video: Hopkinton Historical Society Honors Joe Colella

The Hopkinton Historical Society hosted their annual open house last Saturday night. This year they dedicated the museum room to Joe Colella, Colella played a key role in developing and maintaining the Historical Society. In the below video, Historical Society member Russ Greve talked about some of the many contributions Joe Colella made to the community and Historical Society.

During their customer appreciation weekend, Weston Nurseries celebrated the 25th year of their outdoor train display. Train enthusiast Stitch who maintains the train display at Weston Nurseries also put together an additional train display in a green room at Weston Nurseries as seen in the story image to the right.

History of Chinese Fans at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts

Come to the Hopkinton Center for the Arts on Thursday, October 27 at 7:00 PM to learn about Chinese fans. Zhiqi Liu, Juliana Wong, and Dongtao Huang will offer a short lecture on the art and history of the Chinese fan, then will help you paint and create a fan, tied with a Chinese knot! This event is aimed at adults but will be suitable for children aged 10 or older.

Anjali Mitter Duva at the Hopkinton Senior Center

Anjali Mitter Duva, author of Faint Promise of Rain, will speak about Indian history and dance at the Hopkinton Senior Center, 28 Mayhew Street, on Wednesday, October 12 at 7:00 PM and will demonstrate Indian dance. She will also bring delicious samosas to try! Books will be available for purchase at the end of the evening. The event is sponsored by the Hopkinton Public Library.

Movie Night to Raise Funds for Hopkinton HS Alpine Race Team

The Hopkinton High School Alpine Race Team will be screening a premiere of this years 2016 MSP Ski Movie - RUIN & ROSE. As part of the Premiere World Tour and stopping in our very own Middle School Auditorium. Check out the Trailer on youtube. Screening will be at 7pm, $10 tickets sold at the door. Our efforts will support fundraising for the establishment of Hopkinton High School very first Alpine Race Team. Proceeds from fundraising will be targeted to cover team costs and reduce direct costs to students/racers to ensure our team is a great success.

The Michael Lisnow Respite Center is hosting their 19th annual 5K on Saturday October 15th. Ricardo Barraza stopped by the HCAM studios to talk about the event. The event will take place at the town common and start at 9am, registration will be open at 8:30. In addition to the run/walk 5k there will be fun and games for all members of the family.
