The MetroWest Veterans Services District Seeks a Part-Time (15 Hrs/Week) Veterans Agent

Under the direction of the Director, Veterans Services, the Veterans Agent delivers essential services to Veterans and their eligible dependents residing in the communities of the district (Ashland, Holliston, Hopkinton and Medway) in the administration of federal, state and local benefits to assist veterans, widows and dependents in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws (MGL) Chapter 115.

Public Announcement: Temporary Partial Closure of Church Street

To all Residents and Visitors of the Town:

Please note that as a result of the Library construction project, Church Street will need to be partially closed on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 and Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Church Street will be closed from Main Street to 10 Church Street. A detour will be set up to direct traffic to Hayden Rowe from Main Street and to Church Place from Church Street. Access to local residents will be allowed past the detour at Church Place.

Polyarts began in 1974 as a demonstration of various arts and crafts to showcase the talents of the local community. Since then, it has grown into a day long event with many professional craftspeople, performing artists, and community groups participating throughout the day. Polyarts is free to attend and is a family-friendly day with something for everyone, be it food, music, crafts, or other entertainment.

Bocce Challenge 2016 Thursday 9/8 3-6pm at Hopkinton Senior Center

For the 3rd straight year, the Hopkinton Senior Center will host the annual Bocce challenge. The event will take place Thursday September 8th, 2016 at the Hopkinton Senior Center. 2014 was the first year of the challenge and the Hopkinton Police defeated the Seniors. In 2015 the Hopkinton Fire Department joined the challenge and defeated the Police Department in the championship round. This year come join the fun as the Hopkinton Fire Department, Police Department and Seniors will once again battle on the Bocce court.

Be Refreshed: The Power of Words Sept 29th

There will be a panel of speakers discussing different types of words....encouraging words, healing words, and challenging words. These words have power to change our lives and the lives of others around us. It's worth reflecting about how we use these powerful words so we can make a greater impact on others. The panel speakers are Tara Romine, Rachel Jackson, and Patti Stadolnik.

Hopkinton Public Library Events: Writing Walk 9/14, Women for Women 9/19

Local poet Polly Brown will lead a writing walk at Art on the Trail on Wednesday, September 14 at 6 pm. Meet at the Main Street/Claflin Street end of Center Trail, across from Hopkinton Lumber. After a short introduction you'll have the opportunity to explore on your own and find something that inspires you to write. Then we'll gather back at the start of the trail to share. Please bring writing materials, insect repellent, and a stool or portable chair. (We'll try to have some extras of all of these things, too, just in case.)

Volleyball Clinic Hosted by Hillers Coach, Margie Grabmeier 9/17-10/08

Join MA Volleyball Coach of the Year Margie Grabmeier and the members of the 2014 State Champion Hillers Varsity Volleyball Team for a series of practices and games designed to help you master your volleyball skills. This clinic will run for 4 Saturdays in the fall.

You will improve your bump, set, spike, and overhead serve while learning the basic rules of team volleyball during “match” play!

You will also receive information on area clubs, clinics, and camps for even more opportunities throughout the year.

Marathon Quilters Guild Quilt Show

The Marathon Quilters Guild of Hopkinton is thrilled to celebrate its 20th Anniversary with a Quilt Show on September 17 & 18 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at The Hopkinton Center for the Arts, 98 Hayden Rowe Street, Hopkinton, MA. The show will feature many beautiful and unique quilts made by guild members as well as the recently completed 300th Anniversary quilt for the Town of Hopkinton and the quilt completed for the Hopkinton Library which helped raise funds for the new library.

Hopkinton Fire Invites Public to Station Open House

The Hopkinton Fire Department will open their station to the public on October 9th for their Annual Open House. The event at Fire Headquarters will be from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Residents and children will have the opportunity to view demonstrations, learn about fire safety, and tour the station. Refreshments will be provided and Sparky the dog is expected to make an appearance.
