HPTA Extracurricular On-Line Registration Opens Tomorrow Night for Members

Registration opens at 9PM on Thursday, December 8th for winter signups for HPTA extracurricular activities. The first week of registration is for HPTA members only, and includes a $15 discount on each class. However, if you are not currently a member, you can become one at anytime, including during the first week of signups. General registration starts on the 16th at 10AM, and is open to all members of the community.

Elementary School Planning Survey Now Closed

In a press release this morning from the Hopkinton School Committee, Chairman Jean Bertschmann says the response to the community survey asking residents to weigh in on the solution for Center School received the highest response rate to date of any survey conducted by the School Committee.

The online survey was available online and in hard copy from November 21 through December 6, and broadly advertised through all local print and online media to encourage participation.

Spilka to Discuss Dangers of Texting While Driving at Keefe Tech

Senator Karen Spilka will speak to students about the dangers of texting while driving at the Joseph P. Keefe Technical High School in Framingham on Wednesday, December 7th.

The event is part of AT&T's "It Can Wait" campaign aimed at raising awareness about the risks of texting and driving. As part of the presentation today, AT&T will show a 10-minute documentary that tells the true stories of young drivers whose lives were altered, or even ended, because of texting and driving.

St. Paul's "Blue Christmas" Service

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church invites the public to a special “Blue Christmas” Service on Sunday, December 18 at 6:00 p.m. This service will include readings, music, candle lighting and silence and will focus on the hope and healing God offers to each one of us. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is located at 61 Wood Street (Rte. 135) in Hopkinton.

Caroling on the Common

'Tis the season! Hopkinton kicked off its holiday celebration with its annual Caroling on the Common festivities on Saturday December 3rd. The event, which was co-sponsored by the Girl Scouts and Parks and Recreation, brought out many members of the community who were eager to get into the holiday spirit.

Caroling on the Common and Tree Lighting Today

The planning has begun and the holiday happenings in Hopkinton will be here before you know it! To kick off the season’s festivities, the Hopkinton Girl Scouts will once again be partnering with Hopkinton Parks and Recreation for the annual Holiday Caroling on the Common/Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 3 at 4pm.

Mark your calendars and come on down to the Town Common to enjoy the caroling, with hot chocolate and cookies provided by Hopkinton Parks and Recreation. Watch the lighting of the tree, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, or write a letter to Santa.

Airing on Comcast channel 10 and Verizon channel 31, HCAM-ED is designed to bring you programming related to all aspects of Hopkinton's schools. We have currently introduced our second original series called "Highlights from the Hill".
