Worcester Firefighter Killed in Early Morning Blaze

As many of you may know, in addition to my job as Production Coordinator at HCAM-TV, I am also a Call Firefighter for Hopkinton and a Full-time Dispatcher for the Town of Ashland. I'm posting this story and video in honor of one of my brother firefighters who gave the ultimate sacrafice this morning while fighting a house fire in Worcester.

Hopkinton Cheerleaders to Host Drop & Shop

In order to raise money for their trip to compete at Nationals in Florida in March, the Hopkinton High School Cheerleaders will host a Drop and Shop on Saturday, December 17 from 12-4pm at the Learning Center located at 59 Wood Street in Hopkinton.

Drop your kids off from 12-4pm while you shop, go to lunch or tend to other holiday errands. All babysitting will be provided by the Cheerleaders with parental supervision.

The cost is $20 per child for 4 hours of babysitting. Please RSVP to Cindy Cardillo at 508-497-9952 to reserve a spot for your child.

CAA Members Art Show Open Now

Hopkinton's Cultural Arts Alliance Members Art Exhibition opened for the holiday season on Friday, December 2, The exhibit is open until December 29 at the CAA Gallery at 98 Hayden Rowe, Hopkinton. Exhibit hours are weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon, and from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.; and on Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Did you know that HCAM-TV has a photo website called "Scene in Hopkinton'? It's our SmugMug site where we have hundreds of photos from many Hopkinton events, as well as just "scenes" of life in Hopkinton. Some are taken by HCAM staff and others are submitted by our viewers.

HCAM News Visits the Holiday Family Program at the LIbrary

The Hopkinton Public Library hosted its 7th Annual Holiday Program on Saturday, December 3rd at the Library with performances by Four Guys in Tuxes – the Duo, Holiday Chorus by Tone Deft from ESL and holiday stories with Mrs. "K". Watch the HCAM News video for more!

HPTA Extracurricular On-Line Registration Opens Tomorrow Night for Members

Registration opens at 9PM on Thursday, December 8th for winter signups for HPTA extracurricular activities. The first week of registration is for HPTA members only, and includes a $15 discount on each class. However, if you are not currently a member, you can become one at anytime, including during the first week of signups. General registration starts on the 16th at 10AM, and is open to all members of the community.

Elementary School Planning Survey Now Closed

In a press release this morning from the Hopkinton School Committee, Chairman Jean Bertschmann says the response to the community survey asking residents to weigh in on the solution for Center School received the highest response rate to date of any survey conducted by the School Committee.

The online survey was available online and in hard copy from November 21 through December 6, and broadly advertised through all local print and online media to encourage participation.

Spilka to Discuss Dangers of Texting While Driving at Keefe Tech

Senator Karen Spilka will speak to students about the dangers of texting while driving at the Joseph P. Keefe Technical High School in Framingham on Wednesday, December 7th.

The event is part of AT&T's "It Can Wait" campaign aimed at raising awareness about the risks of texting and driving. As part of the presentation today, AT&T will show a 10-minute documentary that tells the true stories of young drivers whose lives were altered, or even ended, because of texting and driving.

St. Paul's "Blue Christmas" Service

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church invites the public to a special “Blue Christmas” Service on Sunday, December 18 at 6:00 p.m. This service will include readings, music, candle lighting and silence and will focus on the hope and healing God offers to each one of us. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is located at 61 Wood Street (Rte. 135) in Hopkinton.

Caroling on the Common

'Tis the season! Hopkinton kicked off its holiday celebration with its annual Caroling on the Common festivities on Saturday December 3rd. The event, which was co-sponsored by the Girl Scouts and Parks and Recreation, brought out many members of the community who were eager to get into the holiday spirit.
