Third Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest at the Hopkinton Public Library

The pumpkin decorating contest for Middle & High School students returns to the Hopkinton Public Library! The decorating will take place on Friday, October 9 at 2:30 PM, and you must be registered by October 7 to participate. Decorated pumpkins will be on display at the Library. Library patrons will vote on their favorites, and prize winners will be announced on Friday, October 30.

Thanks to Weston Nurseries & Webster First Federal Credit Union for providing the pumpkins and prizes.

New Principal at Elmwood School

Superintendent Dr. Cathy MacLeod announced in a letter to parents that David Ljungberg has accepted a position in the central office and will no longer be the principal of Elmwood School. 2 year assistant principal Anne Carver will serve as the interim principal while Joanna Bowolick will take over as interim assistant principal. The letter of the announcement is below.

Senate Passes Bill to Repeal License Suspensions for Non-driving Drug Offenses

BOSTON— The Massachusetts Senate today voted in favor of Senate Bill 2014, An Act relative to motor vehicle license suspension, Senator Karen E. Spilka (D-Ashland) announced.

This bill repeals the current law that subjects individuals convicted of a non-violent drug offense to an automatic license suspension for up to five years and a license reinstatement fee of $500, even if the offense does not involve motor vehicles in any way. Thirty-four states, including every other New England state, have already taken action to repeal similar laws.

Keefe Tech Awarded Grant for "Reality Check" Fair

Margaret Ellis was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the Massachusetts State Treasurer’s
Financial Education Innovation Fund to host a “Reality Check” Fair on October 16, 2015, from

Hopkinton Police Drug Take-Back Day September 26th, 10am-2pm

The Hopkinton Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public another opportunity to prevent pull abuse or theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your medications for disposal to Hopkinton Police Headquarters at 74 Main Street, Hopkinton, MA, Saturday September 26th between 10am and 2pm. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
