Waterfronts Welcome Swimmers

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) today announced that the summer recreational season begins this weekend with the opening of waterfronts across the Commonwealth. Lifeguards begin staffing inland and ocean beaches on weekends, while parks and campgrounds staff up for camping, interpretive and educational programming, boating, OHV and ATV use, sailing, golfing, summer concerts and movies at
the Hatch Shell and more.

Fire at 11 Price Street

May 21st 2014 - Wednesday Night around 7:00pm a fire occurred at 11 Price Street. A light fixture in the house is being investigated as the cause of the fire, and there is moderate damage to the home. The fire started on the roof and was contained to 2 rooms, fortunately no one was hurt.

Weston Nurseries, Inc hires New Garden Center Manager

HOPKINTON- Weston Nurseries in Hopkinton, Massachusetts welcomes Amanda Clark as their new Garden Center Manager. She will oversee the day to day operations of the Garden Center.

Amanda has two decades of experience in retail management and has managed several Garden Centers in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. She is a graduate of MN Riverland Technical College located in Rochester, Minnesota and has several accreditations including Minnesota Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional and Master Gardener.

Hopkinton Education Foundation Golf Ball Drop and Balloon Rides

The Hopkinton Education Golf Ball Drop fundraiser will be held Monday, June 2 at 5:30pm at Hopkins Elementary School, with a rain date of June 3. The event will feature hot air balloon rides, weather permitting, courtesy of ReMax Executive Realty. The golf ball dropped closest to, or in, the hole wins $1000; furthest from the pin wins $100. Golf balls cost $10 each, or six for $50, and tickets are available from Liz Gormley, at gormley.elizabeth@gmail.com, or Maureen Belger, at mwb853@gmail.com.

22nd annual fundraiser for Breast Cancer Prevention

The Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) is hosting its 22nd Annual Against the Tide fundraiser in Hopkinton on June 21st and the 15th Annual Against The Tide fundraiser in Brewster on August 16th. Against The Tide is an inspiring and fun walk, run, swim, kayak, or aquathon event that supports breast cancer prevention.

To promote this wonderful event and support our mission of breast cancer prevention, the MBCC is requesting your help by running our prepared Against the Tide 2014 PSA.

2014 Middlesex Sheriff's Office Youth Public Safety Academy

Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian is proud to announce the dates for the 2014 Youth Public Safety Academy. The Academy is open to all children ages 9-11 who reside in Middlesex County. Over the course of each week, cadets participate in a range of team building activities, learn about emergency preparedness and are introduced to law enforcement officials both at the Sheriff’s Office and their local public safety agencies. This year, the cost of the YPSA is $75.00 per cadet with breakfast, lunch and other costs included.

Dan Field’s challenging personal journey began on December 10, 2002, when he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Following two rounds of surgery and radiation treatment, Dan went into remission for nearly 10 years.

Unfortunately, in July of 2012, his cancer returned. Since then, Dan has endured multiple clinical trials and treatment. Through it all, he continues to approach every day with an extraordinarily positive attitude and extreme grace.
