The 9th episode of HCAM's new series "Hopkinton Hangout Hour" took place at 2pm Monday, April 6th. In the first half hour, we discussed what people are cooking. BILLERICA, Mass. - The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office today announced seven employees working at the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction have tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, one employee who works in a position located outside the facility has also tested positive.

All those employees who have tested positive will remain off duty until cleared by medical professionals to return to work.

As part of its response measures, the MSO has taken several steps to address situations involving staff including:

Today, the House and Senate passed a bill to provide necessary relief to municipalities, taxpayers, restaurants, and state authorities impacted by the COVID-19 crisis and State of Emergency declaration.

The bipartisan legislation extends the state income tax filing deadline for residents; addresses disruptions in municipal tax collections and permitting; and allows licensed restaurants to sell certain alcoholic beverages with food take-out and delivery orders, among other provisions.

The Massachusetts State Senate on Thursday passed legislation that will provide additional Unemployment Insurance (UI) relief to low-income families, non-profit institutions and employers.

The Town of Hopkinton recently conducted a public listening session online, soliciting input from the public about the Town's climate resiliency with respect to the efforts undertaken as part of the Commonwealth's Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness program.
