COVID-19 Announcements from Middlesex Sheriff's Office

As we address the evolving challenges of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to share information regarding the critical steps we are taking to manage the health and safety of all those held at, working in and visiting the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction.

As of 3 p.m. today, all non-attorney visits were suspended pending further notice. The decision to suspend visits was made based on current information available to the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office.

Community Notice: Covid-19 Update, Closures, Social Distancing

Based on the Social Distancing Guidelines from the Hopkinton Health Department, in collaboration with the Hopkinton Emergency Management Group, and continued assessment of the local impact of COVID-19, the Hopkinton Public Schools, Hopkinton Public Library, and Hopkinton Senior Center will be closed through next week (Monday, March 16th, to Friday, March 20th). All Parks & Recreation programs are also cancelled during this time.

As you are undoubtedly aware, Governor Baker announced a number of emergency measures this evening. I have been in touch with the Governor and the Administration about a number of the issues he addressed, and I would like to thank everyone who has contacted my office to let me know the questions and concerns residents have in their communities. It has helped my discussions with state and local leaders immensely.

Town of Hopkinton Health Department Update: March 13th, 2020

What to do if you have been notified that you may have been exposed to COVID-19
If you have been notified that you may have had an exposure to a close contact or a
presumptive positive COVID-19, the Hopkinton Health Department offers the following
guidelines for clarification. Please note that the CDC would consider contact with a contact
exposure as “no identifiable” risk for transmission, but we have decided as a department to
provide our residents education about symptoms of COVID-19 and the incubation period.

Massachusetts Legislature Approves a $15 Million Fund in Response to the Coronavirus Outbreak

The Senate and House today passed a supplemental budget to create a $15 million fund in response to the outbreak of COVID 19 cases in Massachusetts. The funds, held in reserve, will support the Commonwealth’s monitoring, treatment, containment, public awareness and prevention efforts against the 2019 novel coronavirus by the Department of Public Health, regional and local boards of health, and other public entities.
