Community Notice: Nomination Papers Available for 2022 Hopkinton Town Election

Nomination papers for elected Town officers are now available in the Town Clerk’s Office as of today, January 18, 2022. Those interested in seeking to volunteer for elected office in the May 16th, 2022 Annual Town Election should inquire with the Town Clerk’s Office about the process for obtaining nomination papers and getting on the ballot.

Middlesex County Restoration Center Commission secures $5 million in funding

The Middlesex County Restoration Center Commission has been awarded $5 million in funding from the state’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation, officials announced today.

The commission was established under the Act Relative to Criminal Justice Reform in 2018 with the charge from the Legislature to study and make recommendations for the creation of a crisis diversion facility in Middlesex County. The new center would provide an alternative to arrest and unnecessary transport to the emergency rooms for individuals in need of behavioral health services.

Community Notice: 2022 Open Burn Season

Massachusetts allows residents to burn brush between January 15 and May 1, depending on weather conditions and air quality. Hopkinton does not charge a fee, though you must obtain permission from the Hopkinton Fire Department if you plan to open burn.

Last year the Hopkinton Fire Department partnered with Full Circle Technologies to implement a new online Open Burn Permit system for the 2021 season. We will continue to use that system for 2022.

Community Notice: Main Street Corridor Project Update 1-14-2022

Operations suspended on 12/17/21 - No project work currently scheduled

● During the current shutdown the contractor is required to make a request through the DPW Director to continue work. The DPW Director will determine if they can work up to 10 days. After 10 days, another request would need to be made by the contractor to continue to work.

● At this time, no work is planned before the end of January. Further review will take place in February, but will be weather dependent.

Project Status
● Drainage work close to being complete.

Community Notice: SMOC Fuel Assistance

Applications are currently being accepted for the home heating fuel assistance program through SMOC (South Middlesex Opportunity Council). The program runs from November to April, and is available to all households in Hopkinton if the total household income falls within their guidelines. A household of one qualifies for assistance with an income up to $39,105; a household of two qualifies with an income up to $51,137; etc.
