Sen. Spilka Announces Funding for MetroWest in Final FY18 Budget

BOSTON– The Massachusetts Senate on Friday to approve a final $40.202B billion budget for Fiscal Year 2018. The budget makes reductions in spending from the originally proposed Senate budget due to revised revenue forecasts, but maintains a strong commitment to Chapter 70 education funding and preserving local aid to cities and towns.

Hopkinton Downtown Improvements to Main Street (Route 135) Project Public Forum

The Town of Hopkinton has created a survey to solicit input from residents as to when they would most likely be able to attend a Public Forum regarding the Downtown Improvements to Main Street (Route 135) Project. The Town of Hopkinton would like to best schedule this forum at a time preferred by the majority of our resident respondents.

Hopkinton Town Hall Offices to be Temporarily Moved to 80 South Street

The Town of Hopkinton has an update regarding the location of town offices during the repair and
renovations to Hopkinton Town Hall due to a flood caused by a burst pipe on April 11th:

"On April 11th, the Hopkinton Town Hall suffered extensive damage when a water line ruptured
on the third floor that resulted in devastating damage to areas of all the building’s four
floors. However, town services were up and running within 16 hours in four separate temporary
locations.

Roadwork Notice: Crack sealing work will begin on Wednesday June 28th

Crack sealing work will begin on Wednesday June 28th on the following streets. One lane of traffic will be open at all times. Work is expected to take about 10 days to complete. Work hours will be approximately 7am-4pm. Please do not park any vehicles in the street as it will prevent the contractor from completing the work.

Clinton St, West Elm St, Alexander Rd, Briarcliff Dr, Fruit St, Stone Crossing Way, Westfield Rd, Hemlock Dr, Huckleberry Rd, Nicholas Rd, Roosevelt Ln, Thayer Heights Rd, Ursla Dr, Split Rock Rd & Mayhew St.

Senator Spilka Honored as MA Down Syndrome Congress Legislative Advocate of the Year

BOSTON, MA— The Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC) honored Senator Karen E. Spilka (D-Ashland) as the 2017 Legislative Advocate of the Year, in recognition of her tireless support for the Massachusetts Down syndrome community.

The award is an original painting created by self-advocate Michael Avakian of Bedford and was presented to Senator Spilka in her State House office on Wednesday.

Holliston, Hopkinton and Natick Receive Green Communities Grants for Clean Energy Projects

BOSTON – Senator Karen E. Spilka (D-Ashland) announced today that the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) has awarded a total of $631,202 in Green Communities competitive grants to Holliston, Hopkinton and Natick to fund clean energy projects. The towns are among 72 municipalities across the state receiving $14 million in grants in this round of funding.
