Town Hall Parking Lot Entrance Relocation

The Town Engineer would like to announce that the ongoing work for the Town Hall Roof Replacement Project will require the entrance to the parking lot behind Town Hall to be closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (September 8th, 9th and 10th) from 7:30am – 4:30pm.

During this time the exit will be utilized as both the entrance and the exit. Uniformed traffic control will be present throughout the process and temporary signage will be installed.

Board of Appeals Approves Cell Tower Additions

The Board of Appeals met Wednesday, August 27th. Their discussion focused primarily on adding equipment to cell phone towers at 0 Wilson Street, 1 Mechanic Street, and 26 Lumber Street.

Board Chairman Rory Warren was absent from this meeting; Vice Chairman Michael Pierce presided over the meeting in his stead. After calling the meeting to order, the board moved to push discussion of Peppercorn Village, originally scheduled to be discussed at the meeting, to a later date. Pierce expressed concern over insufficient time to review the matter fully.

Visioning Steering Group Gives Update to Planning Board

Tim Kilduff from the Visioning Steering Group appeared before the Planning Board during their August 25 meeting to give an update to the Board. A lot of work has been done by the Group and the Group is preparing a survey that will be sent out to the community during the week of September 1. Many members of the Group were in attendance as Kilduff gave his report.

Hopkinton Board of Health Vacancy Announcement

On August 22, 2014 the Hopkinton Board of Health notified the Board of Selectmen of a vacancy on the Board of Health due to a resignation and are currently seeking candidates for this position.

Pursuant to Town Charter provision 3-1(e), a joint meeting, consisting of the remaining members of the Hopkinton Board of Health and the members of the Board of Selectmen, will (tentatively) convene on September 9th at a regularly scheduled Board of Selectmen meeting to appoint an individual to temporarily fill this one seat until the next Annual Town Election in May of 2015.

Board of Health Discusses Administrator Position and Town Hall Renovations

The Board of Health met Thursday, August 21st, to discuss new and old business relating to the board.

The board had intended to meet to discuss 6 Emma Drive; the homeowner is seeking to undergo new construction, but currently has a non-conforming septic system. This hearing was postponed, however, because board member Deborah Holbrook resigned from the Board of Health effective August 18th. Lacking sufficient board members to make a decision on the property, the board was forced to table the issue until a third member is found.
