M. Elizabeth (Robson) Palmer, 99

M. Elizabeth (Robson) Palmer, 99, died Friday, November 12, 2021 in Milford. Born in Wiscasett, ME, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Georgia (Lord) Robson. She was a resident of Hopkinton since 1934.

She was a 1939 graduate of Hopkinton High School and worked for GE-Timex &Telechron in Ashland. She was very active in the union, serving as secretary and later becoming the first woman president of Local 205 United Electrical Workers. She also was a long-time hostess at Carbone's Restaurant in Hopkinton.

Mark E. Devane, 92

Mark E. Devane, 92, of Hopkinton, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Born in Newton, he was the son of the late Bridget (O’Shea) and Mark Devane. He was the husband of 65 years to Barbara J. (Shilo) Devane.

In addition to his wife, Mark is survived by three children, Mark Devane and his wife, Janet of Nashua, New Hampshire, Gary Devane of Natick and Glen Devane and his wife, Lisa of Holliston. He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Devane of Framingham; as well as 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother, Fr. John Devane S.J.

Jorge C. Corcuera, 50

Jorge C. Corcuera, 50, passed away following a lengthy illness on November 5, 2021 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Born in Lima, Peru, he was the son of Jorge C. Corcuera Villalon and Ines Toscano and moved to the U.S. in 1987.

He married the love of his life Rashmi M. Sahukar, in 2011, and settled in Hopkinton in 2016.

Jorge worked for Dell/EMC for over 24 years, working his way up to Software Quality Principal Engineer.

Harold Ray Stevens, 85

Harold Ray Stevens, 85 formerly a resident of Westminster, MD died on October 30, 2021 at his residence in Hopkinton with family by his side. Professor Emeritus of English at McDaniel College, he was born 20 May 1936, in Macon, GA, the son of Sudie MacManus and Manuel Eugene Stevens, later of Elkton, MD. He received his bachelor's degree at Western Maryland College, Ph. D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and taught at Butler University and Western Maryland (now McDaniel) College. He was predeceased by Ruth Ann (Wilson ’59) Stevens, his wife of 52 years.

Ann E. Ethier, 85

Ann E. Ethier, 85, of Yarmouth, MA and formerly of Hopkinton and Holliston, passed away at Maplewood at Mayflower in West Yarmouth on Sunday, October 24, 2021. Born in Somerville, MA, she was the daughter of the late Lucy (Ladd) and Arthur W. Coverly. She was the wife of the late Ronald Ethier.

Ruth H. Geveke, 93

Ruth H. Geveke passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22nd, at the age of 93. Born in 1928 in Paterson, NJ, Ruth grew up in Wyckoff, NJ and graduated Eastern Christian Academy. In 1950, she married John Geveke of Paterson, NJ.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband, John Geveke; her brothers, Alan, James and John Ruit, and sister, Dorothy Vriesma. She has 2 daughters, Cheryl Geveke of Stockholm, NJ and Gayle and son-in-law, James Walker of Hopkinton. She also leaves behind 3 grandchildren, Bryanna, Jack and Zachary Walker all of Hopkinton.

Eleanor E. (Jean) Cunis, 103

Eleanor E. Cunis, known as Jean, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22nd, at the age of 103. Born in 1918 in Natick, Jean grew up in Framingham and graduated from Framingham High School in 1936. She attended Framingham Business College and worked briefly at Telechron before marrying Anthony Cunis of Ashland in 1938. The couple enjoyed 64 years of faithful marriage, raising five children and welcoming eight grandchildren before Tony’s death in 2002.

William John Keefe, 86

William John Keefe, 86, of Plymouth and formerly Hopkinton, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Pauline (Bouret) and William Keefe. Bill Was the beloved husband of 41 years to Judy A. (Johnson) Keefe of Plymouth. Judy and Bill were life partners who had a long, intensely joyous and loving life together. They lived in Naples, FL and in Charlotte and Sunset Beach, NC. Favorite times were golfing at Round Hill, Sea Trail and White Cliffs.

Thomas P. Brock, 82

Thomas P. Brock, 82, a retired sergeant of the Massachusetts State Police after 28 years, died October 13, 2021 at his home after a long illness. He was the husband of Marie Janet (St. Pierre) Brock to whom he was married for 31 years. Born in Hopkinton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Eva (Hogan) Brock.

A 1957 graduate of Walpole High School, he held a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and a master’s degree from Anna Maria College. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he also worked for the Boston Herald.
