Fred T. Hoskins, 62, died Wednesday June 27, 2012 at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Diane M. Hayward, to whom he was married for 25 years. Born in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of Fred Hoskins and the late Dorothy (McBurnie) Hoskins.

Fred received his bachelors degree in accounting from Adelphi University and his law degree from Suffolk University. He was employed by Northeastern University as Senior Director of Central Cooperative Education Services.

M. Eileen Frieh, 74

M. Eileen Frieh, 74, of Cincinnati, OH, and formerly of Hopkinton and Framingham, passed away January 24, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Francis Philip Frieh for over 52 years. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Mary C. (Greene) Crohan.

Dorothy M. “Dotty'” Nugent, 84

Dorothy M. “Dotty'” Nugent, 84, passed away, Friday May 18, 2012, after a long illness. She was the widow of Arthur J. “Brud” Nugent, Jr., who died in April 1986. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late George and Emma (Rowan) Gallagher. She was a longtime resident Hopkinton, MA, where she and her husband built a home and raised their family. She was a charter member of the Worcester Eagles. She was involved in her community as a Scout leader, an advocate for preserving Lake Maspenock, and was a fixture at Town Meetings until the onset of her illness.

Scott R. Whalen, 45

Scott R. Whalen of Chelmsford, formerly of Hopkinton, a vice president of advertising for the Boston Herald, died Friday at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston from injuries suffered in a car accident.

He was 45.

Born in Framingham, Mr. Whalen was raised and educated in Hopkinton.

He graduated from Hopkinton Junior-Senior High School in 1984 and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1988.

Beginning in 2001, Mr. Whalen served as vice president of advertising for the Boston Herald.

Richard J. Clemens, born October 10, 1928, died May 6, 2012 at the age of 83. Mr. Clemens was born in New York City and relocated to Stock bridge, Mass. in 1944. In 1946, he became a United States Marine to serve his country during World War II. He returned to Stockbridge to complete his high school education and later served as a Marine during the Korean Conflict. He earned an associates degree in police science and a bachelors degree in criminal justice. He was also a 3rd degree member of the Father Robert Scott Knights of Columbus Council #11064.

Bernard P. "Barney" Reilly, 87

HOPKINTON - Bernard P. "Barney" Reilly, 87, died Saturday April 21, 2012 in Milford. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn (Hubbs) Reilly. Born in Manhattan, he was the son of the late Charles and Alice (Smith) Reilly. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a long-time employee of Pepperidge Farm.

Philip Thibodeau passed away at home early on Easter Monday. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra, daughters Cynthia and Michelle, grandson Paul, and nieces and nephews. A memorial service with military honors was held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on Monday, April 16, 2012.
