Opinion: Ritterbusch for School Committee

contribute's picture

I am voting for Amy Ritterbusch for School Committee not just because of her initiative and tireless efforts to improve Hopkinton’s schools, but also for her ability to identify and implement solutions.

Amy’s active volunteerism through her nine years as a Hopkinton resident, which includes attending school committee meetings and serving as an HPTA volunteer at several schools, gives her a clear understanding of how our school system works.

Amy Ritterbusch is the absolute right person for the job of School Committee Member. Commitment, dedication, and focus for ensuring the best education of our children are what we need and want on our School Committee, and Amy exudes each of these characteristics as demonstrated by her selfless volunteering and activism in our community year after year.

Editor,

In 2012 the Boston Business Journal awarded Ellen Scordino one of its 40 under 40 nominations. This prestigious award recognizes Boston's best and brightest young professionals who are achievers, innovators and leaders in their fields. These are all assets that would be valuable to our School Committee.

Ellen Scordino Second Candidate Statement - School Committee Election 2013

Coming to Massachusetts from New York City, where I had to diligently research private schools and educational philosophies, and subject my daughter to interviews, testing and applications, I knew I needed to land in a community with excellent public schools. Not surprisingly, I moved here, to Hopkinton. While our community has many great attributes, the school system is the cornerstone of this community and the single biggest reason why people move to Hopkinton.

My name is Amy Ritterbusch and I am running for the open seat on our School Committee. I have lived in Hopkinton for nine years and like most residents I am committed to keeping our schools strong. My husband, Tim, and I have three children (Grades 7, 5 and 2) in the Hopkinton Schools. I have a BA from UMass Amherst. In addition to my many volunteer roles in town, I have a freelance web design business.

With young children in Hopkinton’s school system, we have a dedicated interest in selecting the right person for the school committee position. We need a person with foresight who can best fulfill the needs of our community to ensure Hopkinton continues to grow as a top notch school system by the time today’s Center School students reach high school.

Dear Editor,

Dr. Hiersche indicated during the ‘State of the Schools’ that one of our greatest challenges as a school district is maintaining our current level of excellence. To stay at the top of our game we need a School Committee that not only welcomes ideas, concerns and questions, but more importantly provides feedback and engages the community to create solutions that the town as a whole will support.
