Editorial: Endorsing Mary Jo LaFreniere and Shahidul Mannan for Select Board

By contributor,

I’ve had the pleasure to work with Mary Jo on the Select Board for the past 3 years. Part of the job as a Member of the Select Board is bringing leadership and perspective, and Mary Jo bring both skills to the table. No one member can say they delivered a specific project, but they can provide a perspective that represents certain segments of our town and Mary Jo has done just that. Her work with the Town’s Assessing Department brings a fresh perspective as Select Board when we consider projects, project costs and how we pay for them.

Editorial: Endorsing Shahidul Mannan for Select Board

By contributor,

We are writing to express our support for Shahidul Mannan for Select Board in Hopkinton.

Hopkinton deserves to have elected leaders who are focused on the best interest of all of its citizens. These leaders should be able to assess the challenges presented and the diverse interests of all stakeholders in town and make decisions they believe will best serve the town. In our experience, the best leaders to make these decisions combine dedication, experience and curiosity.

Editorial: Endorsing Holly Morand for School Committee

By contributor,

It is with genuine excitement that I am writing to endorse Holly Morand for School Committee. Holly is a thoughtful, intelligent, and well-informed candidate who I have the pleasure of knowing through her outstanding work with the Hopkinton Freedom Team. I have witnessed Holly help those in crises, calm a room, lead a large group, and ensure that all voices were heard in matters that impact our entire community. She is a fair and strong advocate committed to doing what is best for our schools.

Editorial: Response to John Coutinho's letter from Nancy Drawe

By contributor,

Wow, JC! Seriously? He told me right to my face the other night that he was being "nice." Well, his definition of "nice" certainly isn't the same as mine. What an awful way to run a campaign, by bashing the very same board that he thinks he has a chance of sitting with. Any respect I had for him is totally gone. I really hope that any of his constituents will be thinking twice now.

Editorial: Be respectful of career development journeys

By contributor,

Be respectful of career development journeys.

“I cannot remember anyone blaming the Select Board in 2009 when our last town manager left, because it didn’t happen.” – quoted from Beth Malloy, this is a very valid point.
When people reach retirement, celebrate their contributions and wish them well.
When someone takes a career advancement or transition, even outside our beloved community, celebrate their contributions and wish them well.

Editorial: Endorsing Shahidul Mannan for Select Board

By contributor,

I was thrilled to learn that Shahidul Mannan is running for a seat on the Select Board. Shahidul is a compassionate, thoughtful leader and is invested in Hopkinton’s continued growth and progress. He’s a great advocate for Hopkinton and its families, and brings a wealth of knowledge from serving on various committees. I cannot think of a more qualified candidate and I enthusiastically support his candidacy.

Thank You!

Editorial: First time candidate supports fellow candidates

By contributor,

This is my first time as a candidate running for an elected seat on a board; all my other volunteer positions in Hopkinton were appointed. I have been learning so much from all my fellow Democratic candidates, each and every one has been so helpful and kind to me. I am proud to be running alongside them. Their campaign strategies are totally ethical, respectful, honest and positive! They all have excellent qualifications and experience for the seat on the Committee/Board of which they are seeking.
