Hopkinton School Committee Strategic Plan Public Forum

The Hopkinton School Committee in conjunction with the Superintendent, Steering Committee and Administrative Team has developed a new 5-year Strategic Plan to guide the work of the district. We are thankful for all of the public input gathered through public forums and survey data and are ready to share the results. The following dates have been selected to provide opportunity for public comment prior to the School Committee’s vote to accept the plan. We encourage you to attend so that your voice can be heard.

Lady Hiller Tennis Fell to Warriors

"Medfield played very tough today and beat us 3-2" said Coach Nancy Clark. Her #2 Singles player was not feeling well, so they had to default a match. But the Lady Hillers are still in first place by themselves with one loss. Dover-Sherborn and Medfield are tied for 2nd with two losses. They play each other next week again.

Hillers Take Raiders Again on the Road

On the heels of yesterday's 4-1 victory over Westwood, the Lady Hillers had a huge win today at Dover-Sherborn 3-2. Coming into the match, D/S was in second place in the league with only one loss, which was to the Hillers in April. With today's win Hopkinton remains in first and undefeated (12-0 overall, 10-0 Tri Valley League), and D/S is now tied for 2nd with Medfield, who also has 2 losses. To wrap up a very exciting week on Thursday, the Lady Hillers host Medfield.

As Sophomore and Freshman parents, we ask that you volunteer your time to this event in order to give the Junior students an opportunity to celebrate with their class in a safe and fun environment.

As your students will have the opportunity to attend this event soon, we ask that you help our Junior students this year.

THIS EVENT CANNOT OCCUR WITHOUT PARENT VOLUNTEERS AND AS OF TODAY, WE ARE WELL OFF OUR GOAL OF HAVING ENOUGH HELP.

Your duties on this night might include:
 serving food
 monitoring a “station”
 helping to run a “station”

Helping Teens With Homework Doesn’t Mean Doing the Work

Parents have always known it’s important to help teens with homework. But today, some parents are actually doing the homework.
Clearly, that’s going too far. But what can a parent do?

Teachers say they need to see the teen’s work, not the parent’s. Only by looking at homework can a teacher judge what a teen still doesn’t understand. Teachers often use what they learn from homework mistakes to plan future lessons.

Convert Short-term Memory Into Long-term Learning

With final exams coming up, your teen will have to recall a lot of information. Good recall is not simply a gift. It can be learned and improved through practice, and finding what works best for your teen.
The key to good recall is moving a piece of information from short-term memory (which lasts a few moments) to long-term memory (which lasts months or years).

HOPKINTON, MA. -- It’s been 40 years since JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR first hit the big screen, but the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical has morphed from a controversial Broadway show to a time-tested classic. Always one step ahead in the drama scene, the Drama Club of Hopkinton Middle School will perform the beloved musical with a live orchestra May 2, 3 and 4 at the middle school auditorium, 88 Hayden Rowe St., Hopkinton.
