Hopkinton High School Jazz Ensemble Awarded GOLD!

Congratulations to the HHS Jazz Ensemble and Mr. Jeremy Dodge on their first-ever gold medal at the Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education (MAJE) Central District I Senior Jazz Festival held February 28th at Nipmuc Regional High School, Upton, MA. All of their hard work practicing and rehearsing before and after school paid off. The students will now perform on Sunday, March 18th in the MAJE State Finals held at Norwood High School.

The Annual Hopkinton High School Science & Engineering Fair took place. Science Teacher, Kristen Murphy coordinated the fair. The top 3 projects received prizes and the top 12 earned a trip to the regional tournament. View some scenes below!

Community Safety Forum Tuesday March 6th

In response to community concerns about current safety measures and procedures in the schools and town, the School Administration, Chief of Police, Fire Chief and Director of Youth and Family Services will host a public forum on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 7:00pm in the Hopkinton High School Auditorium. Following the discussion, there will be opportunities for members of the public to ask questions and offer feedback. The public forum will be filmed by HCAM.

Hopkinton Garden Club Scholarship Applications Available

The Hopkinton Garden Club is soliciting applications for its 2018 Scholarship available to applicants maintaining legal residence in Hopkinton, Massachusetts for at least one year. Scholarships are available for high school or college students or any adult interested in pursuing a career in the fields of Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Design, Forestry, Conservation, Environmental Sciences or related fields.

Ammunition Found in High School Triggers Early Release

A single round of ammunition was found in a common area at the High School. This triggered the pre-established crisis response protocol. Students and Staff sheltered in place while the Early Release process was activated.

Hopkinton Police responded and provided security through the process and Dogs from the Massachusetts State Police, Environmental Police, Worcester Police and W.P.I. were brought in to assist in the search of the entire school. The Hopkinton Fire Department was mobilized and assisted throughout.

School Committee Approves Superintendent Contract

At their meeting on January 11, 2018, the School Committee approved the contract for the next Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Carol Cavanaugh. Dr. Cavanaugh and the School Committee have agreed to a three year contract with a salary of $180,000, and terms similar to Dr. MacLeod's current contract.
Dr. Cavanaugh will officially assume her duties on July 1, 2018, and will work closely with Dr. MacLeod and the School Committee to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
