Garden Club Seeks Entries For National/State Essay and Poetry Contests for 2013-2014

The Hopkinton Garden Club is encouraging entries from Hopkinton students for the following 2013-2014 National Garden Club contests:

The "High School Essay Contest" is open to all High School students, grades 9-12. The theme for 2013 - 2014 is "Today's Choices Affect Tomorrow's World". A $1,000 National Garden Club Scholarship will be awarded to the National Winner. The second place winner will receive $100.

Proposed Revisions to Transportation Policy EEA

In the interest of providing you with timely communication regarding proposed revisions to the Hopkinton Public Schools' Transportation Policy (EEA) we invite you to join us for an overview of proposed updates and changes related to bus pass application deadlines and late penalties, childcare scheduling, bus stop switching at the elementary level, and procedures for bus carry-on items. Boston Marathon Invitational Entry Applications Due December 6

At their meeting earlier this week, selectmen approved the 2014 Invitational Entry Application Process for the upcoming 2014 Boston Marathon.Qualified organizations that would like to be included in the random selection for invitational applications for the 2014 Boston Marathon, must submit the attached B.A.A. Invitational Numbers Application to the Board of Selectmen's Office by Noon on Friday, December 6, 2013. Late applications will not be considered.

Hopkinton Receives Invite from MSBA

At the Director's Meeting of the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) held this morning in Boston, Hopkinton received an invitation into the MSBA's eligibility period.

“I’m delighted that the Board has voted the Center Elementary School into the Eligibility Period,” said State Treasurer Steven Grossman, Chairman of the MSBA. “We look forward to working collaboratively with Hopkinton officials to develop the best solution to meet the town’s educational needs in a fiscally responsible manner.”

Hopkinton Cheerleaders Score Highest in State

This past Sunday, November 17, The Hopkinton Cheerleaders (HC) competed in the South Regional Cheerleading Championships at Dartmouth High School, Dartmouth MA. There were three other Regional competitions going on simultaneously; North, Central and West at different locations throughout the state. The South Regional is, by far, the biggest regional competition and arguably the toughest. The Hopkinton Coaches and Cheerleaders went into this competition with high hopes knowing they would be going up against the best of the best.

Strategic Plan Focus Groups - Attend on Tuesday

The Hopkinton School Committee has begun its process of developing a new 5-year Strategic Plan to guide the work of the district. The School Committee is seeking input from across the community to use as the foundation for targeted goals and outcomes. To gather information from the community, Dr. MacLeod will facilitate the two remaining Focus Groups with parents and community members. A community wide survey will also be conducted during the month of November. We encourage you to attend so that your voice can be heard.

HHS Class of 2003 - Heather Siebert Community Fundraiser

Heather Siebert was a student of Hopkinton High School and a friend to all who knew her. While she was originally a member of the Class of 2003, unexpected and mysterious health problems forced Heather to face a long and difficult battle – a battle she faced with an inspiring level of courage and strength. Even though continuing her education was difficult at times, Heather worked hard, overcame obstacles, and ultimately graduated from HHS in 2004. She even went on to complete her freshman year at Plymouth State University despite her ongoing health needs.
