HPTA Council Representatives Needed

Even though the school year is just ending, it’s not too early to start thinking about next year and how you can make a difference in your child’s education!

We are currently seeking candidates for the School Councils for the 2011-2012 school year. Duties include: adopting goals for the school, identifying educational needs for students, reviewing the school’s budget, and formulating a school improvement plan.

Each School Council includes a parent and teacher from each grade level and a community representative who does not have a child at the school.

Important Reminder: Bus Fees Due June 17

Registration period for busing for the 2011-2012 school year is in full swing and ends on June 17, 2011. K - 6 students living more than 2 miles from their school do not pay and are automatically assigned to a bus. All others must apply and pay a bus fee of $210 per student with a $420 family cap.

After June 17th, the price per student increases to $260 with a family cap of $520.

Bus routes & stops will be assigned immediately after the June 17th deadline. No new bus stops will be established to accommodate students whose payments are not received by the June 17th deadline.

Underclass Award Breakfast 2011

Students in grades 9 through 11 gathered together to celebrate the accomplishments of the underclassmen at Hopkinton High on Thursday, June 9, 2011. Principal Alyson Geary handed out over one hundred awards in all major departments of study, as well as special corporate, community and book awards.
Department awards are decided by the teachers and special and book awards by the Guidance Department.
Students received the following awards from the various academic departments:

Eleventh: Shaina Belsky, Kelsey Smith
Tenth: Lynette Winshman, Aleck Venegas

Highlights of Graduation Ceremony - Class of 2011

Hopkinton High School's commencement activities took place on Friday, June 3, 2011. For Superintendent Jack Phelan, this year's commencement was his 11th, his last and different from all the others.

The Hopkinton Education Foundation Annual Golf Ball Drop

The Hopkinton Education Foundation is once again holding its annual Golf Ball Drop on Thursday, June 9th to raise funds that will support grants for Hopkinton teachers and other school professionals.

One thousand golf balls will be dropped from a hot air balloon provided by event sponsor Re/Max Executive Realty. Each ball will have a number that corresponds with the one given to the person who “buys” that ball.

Senior Recognition Night Awards

Over $100,000 in scholarships was awarded at the Senior Recognition Night held on Thursday, June 2, the night before graduation. The Principal's Award went to Stephanie Hadley and the Superintendent's Award to Paige Phelan. For a complete list of all awards, please see the Graduation Program attached below.

Hopkinton Heroes Recognized

This year the HPTA received thirteen essays in their 4th Annual Hopkinton Heroes Essay contest and the judges were so moved by all of the essays, and by the extraordinary efforts of the heroes, that all thirteen were recognized.
