Tobacco By-Law Now in Effect

The tobacco by-law, prohibiting the possession of tobacco products in a public outdoor place by a person under the age of 18, and approved by Town Meeting in May of this year, is now in effect.

Although it is illegal to buy or sell tobacco products to minors under the age of 18, it was not illegal for minors to use tobacco products.

“The new by-law supports the existing Board of Health regulation that prohibits the sale of tobacco to anyone under the age of eighteen,” says beFree Project Coordinator Jane Roche.

Varsity Hiller Cheerleaders to Host TVL Competition

On October 27th at 6:30pm, the Varsity Hiller cheerleaders will host 7 other Tri-Valley League schools in a cheerleading competition. This gives the girls a chance to showcase their skills in a different type of arena.

At the competition, the girls are judged on a variety of different categories, and the stakes for winning are just as high as how far the girls fly during a stunt. The girls have big goals for this year's competition, not just because of their acrobatic flips, but because of the bond that they have fostered with each other.

To efficiently gather staff, parent, and community perspectives to incorporate into the policy revision, a survey has been created that will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. The survey will remain open until Friday, October 21st. It can be accessed Here.
