Dig Pink Fundraiser

On Friday, October 21st, the Hopkinton Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman volleyball teams will host Millis in a "Dig Pink" match. The Varsity Volleyball team plays at the High School Athletic Center at 5:30pm, the Junior Varsity team plays at the Athletic Center at 4:30pm, and the Freshman team plays at Hopkinton Middle School Brown Gym at 4:30pm. Wear pink and join us at the gym on this important night!

HPTA Costume Sale October 15

Princess dresses, superheroes and sharks are the new normal at Amy Watson’s house as she gears up for the HPTA’s Halloween Costume Sale.
The sale is slated for October 15, from 12-2 pm at Center School Cafeteria.

"This is just fun recylcing at its finest," said Watson.

Residents have been donating their costumes at drop off boxes located at Elmwood School, the library and Colella’s Supermarket.

"We have them in all ages and stages," said Watson.

In addition to costumes, there are also a wide selection of accessories including masks, pirate hats, hooks and headbands.

National Honor Society Fall Inductees

The National Honor Society is more than just an honor roll. Scholarship, service, leadership and character are the four areas in which students must demonstrate outstanding performance in order to be accepted.

And on Monday, October 3rd, 91 new students were inducted into the National Honor Society at Hopkinton High.

Hopkinton School Committee Announces October/November Office Hours

As part of its 2011-2012 Communications Plan, the Hopkinton School Committee will hold office hours to provide residents with an opportunity to attend and ask questions or give feedback regarding current school-related issues.

Dates, times, and locations are as follows:

Tuesday, October 11; 10am – 11 am; Hopkinton Public Library
Tuesday, October 18; 10 am – 11 am; Hopkinton Public Library
Thursday, October 20; 6 pm – 7 pm; Middle School Library
Thursday, November 3; 6 pm – 7 pm; Middle School Library
Thursday, November 17; 6 pm – 7 pm; Middle School Library

Costume Donations Needed

Halloween is fast approaching and the HPTA is looking for gently used Halloween costumes for their annual Halloween Costume Sale. The sale takes place on Saturday, October 15, from 12pm to 2pm at the Center School Cafeteria. Costumes start at $5.....

Donations can be dropped off in the marked bins at Colella's Supermarket, Elmwood School and at the Hopkinton Public Library.

National Merit Scholarship Awards

On September 26, Hopkinton High School Principal Alyson Geary announced that Max Vumbaca has been named a National Merit Semifinalist in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program. Jaclyn Foisy, Megan Fujiyoshi, Rebecca Govoni, Sarah Greizer, Benjamin Madany, Joseph McNulty, Abigail Perreault, Beverly Reynolds, and Olivia Turner have been named Commended Students in the program as well. These students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success.

Pep rallies are a tradition for most high schools and Hopkinton High School is no exception, but the elimination of individual class colors by Principal Alyson Geary, a long standing tradition in Hopkinton, has sparked a controversy among students and attracted the attention of Fox25 News Boston. Fox25 reported live from Hopkinton’s Friday, September 23 football game, to see what some of the students and parents had to say about the changes.
