Hopkins Students Visit State House

Hopkinton’s legislators were pleased to welcome all 12 Hopkins 5th grade classes during 3 separate visits to the State House this week.

“One of the best parts of being a legislator is the opportunity to help foster the next generation of engaged citizens.” said Representative Dykema. “I had a wonderful time speaking with the students about the legislative process. The kids did a great job. Listening to their thoughtful and energetic comments during our mock debate was inspiring and are a credit to Hopkinton’s strong schools.”

Public Notice Regarding Destruction of Special Education Records

Notice is hereby given that Hopkinton Public Schools intends to destroy the records of all students who exited from any special education program prior to and during the 2003-2004 school year.

Any student, or former student, who has reached 18 years of age, may review and/or receive these records by contacting the Student Services Office at (508) 497-9850 and scheduling an appointment by December 21, 2012. Destruction of these records will begin in January 2013.

First, I want to thank Alyson Geary for her outstanding work in Hopkinton. As everyone knows, she will be leaving her position at the end of December to begin working as an Associate Director for the Commission on Public Secondary Schools at the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). She will be working with schools across New England to help ensure high quality educational experiences for children. We all know the passion she brings to ensuring high standards for all students. The evidence of her work and commitment is seen at Hopkinton High School.

Hopkinton Education Foundation Announces iPad Winner

The Hopkinton Education Foundation today announced that David Godfroy, whose daughter Madelyn is a kindergartner at Center School, was the winner of its Partners in Innovation iPad contest. The contest increased awareness of iPads as one of the innovative technologies used in Hopkinton schools as the result of a grant from the Hopkinton Education Foundation.

It is with mixed emotions that I announce my resignation as Hopkinton High School principal, effective December 31st, 2012. I have recently accepted a position as an Associate Director for the Commission on Public Secondary Schools at the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). In this role, I will have the opportunity to work with schools across New England to help ensure quality educational experiences for all children.
