Keefe Tech Students Win with Career & Tech Skills at State Skills USA Contest

On Friday, June 23rd, 2017 we will be hosting our seventh annual golf tournament at Shining Rock Golf Club to support the Hopkinton High School Football Program. Last year's event was a huge success thanks to the many folks like you who contributed by playing, sponsoring a hole or simply donating to the event.

For the 25th year in row, John Hancock introduced the Elmwood students to some of the elite Marathon runners from Kenya. This year the runners at Elmwood included 2012 Men's Boston Marathon Champion, Wesley Korir, 2015 Women's Boston Marathon Champion, Caroline Rotich and also Wilson Chebet, Geoffrey Kirui, Sammy Kitwara, Emmanuel Mutai, Daniel Salel, Joyce Chepkirui, Gladys Cherono, Valentine Kipketer, Edna Kipligat and Brigid Kosgei. But remember, this can be both a wonderful time of year, as
well as a time of increased risk for teens. In fact, the highest
risk of first-time alcohol use occurs in the Prom& Graduation
season.

Here are some ways to keep your family safe:

• Talk openly about substance use with your teen. Be clear
that you do not want your teen to use alcohol or other
drugs. Talk about ways to have fun without drinking or
using drugs.

John Hancock Brings Boston Marathon Champions and Other Elite Kenyan Runners to Elmwood Elementary for Rally

Roughly 500 children from the Elmwood Elementary School in Hopkinton will shout jambo (which means greetings in Swahili) when 2015 Boston Marathon women’s champion Caroline Rotich joins 2012 Boston Marathon men’s champion Wesley Korir and several other elite runners from Kenya as they arrive in the Elmwood Elementary School gym in Hopkinton on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 10 a.m., for the annual pre-race rally.

On March 29, a group of students who will be participating in the Relay for Life from Hopkinton High School went to Boston to attend the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s annual state lobby day. "This year, more than 2,800 Massachusetts kids will become new daily smokers. These youth advocates are working to change that." They met with lawmakers to urge support of a comprehensive tobacco control bill, which would, among other things, increase the legal age of sale of tobacco to 21.
