Snow Removal from Elmwood School Roof

By contributor,

This memo serves to inform you about the build-up of snow on the Elmwood School roof. As always we are keeping an eye on the snow loads on all school roofs in Hopkinton. The HPS Buildings and Grounds Director has been consulting with the Hopkinton building dept. Early last week the building inspector and Dir. of HPS Buildings and Grounds determined that because the snow was so light there was no cause for concern. When hearing there was another storm on the way with the potential for substantial accumulation, HPS contacted a contractor that we have used in the past to remove snow.

Back to School Wednesday

By contributor,

Dear Families and Faculty,

I drove around the school district today along with Mary Ann Fitzpatrick (Transportation Coordinator) and was impressed with the work that has taken place in the wake of the blizzard, followed by the latest storm. While we enjoy our winding country roads during fair weather, they do provide a significant challenge to maintain in winter. Our DPW should be applauded for the terrific job they have done throughout the past challenging weeks.

Kindergarten registration for the 2015-2016 school year that was scheduled for this evening has been cancelled due to the closing of school today. Originally this was for families with last names beginning with A-L.

We have rescheduled the registration for next Tuesday, February 10, 2015. The time remains 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.

For families (last names M-Z) that may have missed registration last Thursday evening, we encourage you to register next Tuesday evening, February 10th.

We hope the third scheduling is the charm!

Help Your Student Study for Tests

By contributor,

Quizzes. AP exams. Driver’s license tests. High school students take a lot of tests. Here are some ways you can help your student study:
~Make sure your student knows the format of the test (multiple choice? essay?) and what will be covered. Your student should ask the teacher (and then write down) whether the test is only on Chapter 6 or whether it will also cover Chapter 7.
~Make sure your student has everything she needs before she starts to study. If she's studying for a math test, for example, she needs to be able to find her old homework sheets and quizzes.
