After a decade of declines, marijuana use has started to rise among teens in the United States and is now more prevalent than tobacco use. Adolescence is a time of critical brain development which makes teens highly susceptible to developing addiction. It is important for parents to understand the potential short- and long-term effects of this substance on brain development and overall health and well-being.
New season, new uniforms and new expectations. The Hiller hockey team coming off their first playoff appearance in 6 years last March, look to build on that success with a wealth of new talent to complement the returning starters. Led by veteran Seniors, Jordan Carroll, Mike Messier, Brendan O'Leary and Brandon Carty, the Hillers have a well balanced team across the grades. Juniors include Nikolai Saporoschetz,Dan Delaney,Will Karpenski,Mark McCluskey,Alex Kosheff,Billy Allen and Cam Finlayson.
Skys the Limit hosted a presentation and showed off the new Middle School courtyard. Student Ambassador Madison McDougall was kind enough to show HCAM news around the renovated courtyard.
The Hopkinton Parent Teacher Association (HPTA) is excited to open the Extracurricular Program to the kindergarten class for the first time. At Center School, the HPTA will offer four after-school programs including: Bricks4Kids (Legos), Karate, Soft Stick Lacrosse and Little Actors. Sessions will run for 8 weeks (3:10-4:00 pm). In an effort to continue to promote a safe and healthy school environment, and in keeping with the Hopkinton High School guidelines communicated in our handbook, I am writing to let you know that we will be administering random breathalyzers at the All School dance this Friday, December 5th (7:30 – 10pm). We instituted this policy last year primarily as a preventative measure and in keeping with School Committee Policy JICH.
Hopkinton High School's Best Buddies Program is holding their 2nd Annual FIVE GUY'S Fundraiser on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 between 5:00 pm and 10:00 pm at the FIVE GUY'S, 9 Medway Road, Milford, MA -Hanaford Plaza. 15% of the sales will be donated to the Hopkinton High School Best Buddies Program.
