Knights of Columbus – Bishop Rice Council 4822 (Ashland/Hopkinton) To Sponsor Youth Soccer Challenge Competition

All boys and girls ages 9-14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2019 Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge. The local competition will be held September 14th from 2 pm to 5:30 pm at the ball fields behind Hopkinton Middle School, 88 Hayden Rowe Street, Hopkinton MA 01748.

Mendon resident, Richard Cormier is the new Athletic Director at Hopkinton High School. For the last 3 years he served as the Athletic Director at Foxboro High School and the 12 years before that as the Head Coach of Boys Basketball and a Teacher at Norwood.

Rich mentioned that the move will allow him to spend more time with his family. "The ability to be a little bit closer to home, run home and see my kids before a night game is definitely appealing on a personal level."

Video: Hopkinton Hillers 2019-2020 Girls Volleyball Preview

The Hopkinton Hillers Girls Volleyball team finished last season with a 19 and 2 overall record. The Hillers went all the way to the Sectional Semi-Finals before falling to a tough Franklin team in 5 matches.

Video: Planning Board Vacancy, Greyhound Friends Kennel License Approved, Post 77 Raises Banner

-The Planning Board is looking for someone to fill a vacancy on the board. the term would last until the may 2020 election. Those interested should be a registered voter in Hopkinton and apply online by Tuesday august 27th. you can find more details on our website.

-Greyhound Friends recently released a press release stating that they were approved by the town for a kennel license. Greyhound Friends still has to be approved by the State to officially open. The facility is under new leadership.

This years Ashland Legion Post 77 Baseball team went further than they ever did before and finished as the State runner-up. Post 77 finished with 21 wins and 5 losses, they captured the Zone 5 Championship and made it all the way to the State Championship before falling to Lawrence.

Hopkinton High School Hires New Athletic Director

Hopkinton High School has hired former Foxborough High School A.D. Rich Cormier to take over as Athletic Director. Former Athletic Director, Dee King recently stepped down due to family reasons. Dee had been the Hopkinton A.D. since 2016.

Rich Cormier worked the last 3 years as the Foxborough HS Athletic Director and before that coached 11 seasons of Boys Basketball at Norwood High School. Cormier will start his new role in Hopkinton towards the end of the month.

Keep Smilin 4 Abbie recently hosted their 6th annual Field Hockey event at Teamworks in Northborough. Hopkinton alumni and current players participated as well as several surrounding towns. The event drew a big turnout and raised a good amount of funds to help stop Anaphylaxis. They quickly embraced the advantages of living in a small, family-oriented town of what was then about 6,000 people.

Video: Ashland Legion Post 77 State Finals Run Recap

On Tuesday July 30th, Post 77 took advantage of several fielding miscues by Lawrence and took the game 14 to 6. The win over Lawrence put Ashland into the final day of the state tournament at Fino Field in Milford.

After a Wednesday rain-out, Post 77 would play Thursday in the State Semi-Finals versus Sandwich. Luke Gustavson pitched a complete game shutout and Post 77 took the 3-0 win. About an hour later, it was State Championship time for Ashland versus Lawrence. Post 77 fell in the pitchers dual 2 to 0. Ashland Post 77's season comes to an end with 21 wins and 5 losses.

They quickly embraced the advantages of living in a small, family-oriented town of what was then about 6,000 people.

LAUREN’S STORY
Lauren was five years old when she arrived in Hopkinton. According to her mother, Riki, from a young age, Lauren was always determined, set goals for herself and achieved those goals through perseverance.
