Hillers Tame Panthers 3-2

The Hopkinton High School Girls Varsity Tennis team hopped on a bus Thursday to Holliston to face their TVL competitor and drove home after beating the Panthers 3-2.

Outstanding performances by Olivia Anderson and Zoe Komodromos blanking their opponents at #1 and #2 Singles 6-0, 6-0. Hopkinton picked up it’s 3rd point at #1 Doubles when Sydney and Laney Emerson won 6-1,6-1.

The Hillers remain undefeated with a league record of 5-0 and a overall record of 7-0. Next stop Medfield today at 3:30 pm.

Bottom 1st - Milford pitcher Ali Atherton gave up 1 run as Kayla Sullivan hit an RBI single.

Top 4th - Jill Powers tied the game with a solo home run for Milford. (1-1 Tie)
Top 5th - The Scarlet Hawks continued the offensive push in the 5th as an RBI single by Allie Piergustavo (2-1) and a 2 RBI double by Taylor Lebrun made it (4-1 Milford)
Top 6th - The Scarlet Hawks added 2 more off of relief pitcher Heather Holly as Maggie Farrell scored on an RBI single by Jenny Levine (5-1) followed by Megan Jaques reaching home after an error allowed Emily Piergustavo to reach first. (6-1 Milford)
Top 7th - Jill Powers hit a 1 out double in the 7th followed by an RBI single by Megan Jaques to plate the 7th Milford run. (7-1 Milford)

WP - Ali Atherton went 7 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 4. LP - Bri Mirable went 4.1 innings surrendering 5 hits and 3 runs.

Hillers Top Raiders 4-1

The Hiller Girls Tennis Team hosted a battle of a match against the Raiders from Dover- Sherborn, beating them 4-1

Freshman Zoe Komodromos had a comeback win at 2nd Singles 2-6, 7-5, 10-4. After losing the first set, and fending off 3 match points at 4-5 in the second, Zoe took the set 7-5 and sustained the momentum in the deciding 10 point super tiebreaker to clinch the victory.

Girls Tennis Clocked Ashland

The Hiller Girls Varsity Tennis team swept the Clockers in Ashland on Monday 5-0, bring their record in the TVL 3-0 and 5-0 overall. An outstanding performance by Olivia Anderson as she beat her opponent at #1 Singles 6-3, 6-0. Steph Pearson played in her first varsity match with Olivia Centrella at 2nd Doubles and won 6-2, 6-1.

The Hillers are home on Wednesday at 3:30 pm as they host the Mustangs of Medway.

At the Boston Marathon Wreath Ceremony, the Hopkinton Middle School chorus sung the Greek National Anthem and 10 selected Students from Hopkinton and Timility Middle school were awarded for winning the marathon essay contest.

2015 Boston Marathon Results

Carole Rotich of Kenya wins The Boston Marathon on women's side with time of 2.24.55, 2013 champion Lelisa Desisa of Ethopia wins on Men's side with time of 2.09.17. Last years Men's winner Meb Keflezighi finished 8th at a time of 2.12.42. The leading American was Dathan Rizenhien who finished 7th at a time of 2.11.20.

Video Segment: Hopkinton Middle School Desire to Inspire 2.62 Mile Run/Walk

Hundreds of students gathered from Hopkinton Middle school for the annual 2.62 mile run or walk as part of the desire to inspire program. For the 2nd straight year Johnny Cowen crossed the finish line first at a time of 17 minutes and 15 seconds. "This is a really special moment that brings our entire Middle School community together." said Middle School Principal Alan Keller. Keller believes that the event is great for motivating students "the first student that runs across the finish line is an amazing accomplishment, but there's so many other accomplishments a long the way, some of the students who walked and seeing them be able to cross the finish line, it's an amazing accomplishment for a lot of different people in a lot of different ways."

Video Segment: Elite Kenyan Runners visit Elmwood School

As part of the John Hancock scholars and stars program. Some of the elite Kenyan runners visited Elmwood school. The athletes got to check out some artwork and dances relating to the Kenyan culture the students worked on. The annual event is always one of the favorite days of the year for alot of the students and staff.

In addition to a few students, HCAM News talked to runners Bernard Kipyego (winner of Amsterdam Marathon and 3rd in Boston Marathon last year), Wesley Korir (2012 Marathon winner and member of the Kenyan Parliament) and Caroline Rotich (Former winner of Prague and Las Vegas Marathon) as well as Master of Ceremonies and legendary broadcaster Larry Rawson.

Hiller Girls Tennis 3-0 Beating Medway

Hiller Girls Varsity Tennis Team hosted the Medway Mustangs on Wednesday a took them in 5 straight sets. Maria Parfenova had her first varsity start, winning at second doubles with Devon LaMachia 6-2, 6-2. The Hillers League Record is 1-0 and Overall Record: 3-0. The Lady Hillers will be off practicing during their April Break and will return to Action on Monday, April 27 when they travel to Ashland for a 3:30 pm match.
