Video: Ashland Legion Stuns Lowell 7-11-2019

On Thursday night, Lowell hosted Ashland Legion at Ashland Middle School due to a field conflict in Lowell. Ashland Legion was trailing 5 to 2 heading into the top of the 5th, a pair of throwing errors on a Cole Glassburn grounder allowed 2 Post 77 runs to score to make it a 5-4 game. Lowell added a run in the Bottom of the 6th and Post 77 found themselves trailing 6 to 4 and down to their final 3 outs.

Video: Post 77 Bats Explode in Hudson 7-10-2019

On Wednesday July 10th in Hudson, the Ashland Post 77 bats didn't stop as they took down Hudson 17 to 3. It was a 6-3 Ashland lead heading into the Top of the 6th and then the Post 77 bats exploded for an 11 run inning. Post 77 improved to 11 and 0 with the win. View highlights below!

Every player in the Post 77 lineup scored at least 1 run in the game. Dom Cavanagh (2-4, 2R, 3RBI), Sean Jewett (3-5, 2R, 2RBI), Nick Calabrese (2-4, 1R, 1RBI). Kevin Balewicz (2-5, 2R). Cavanagh pitched 6 innings and gave up 2 earned runs and struck out 10 hitters.

Local Athletes Win Championship in the Elite Clubs National League Event

A number of local girls participated in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) National Championships this weekend in San Diego. The ECNL is considered the top club soccer league in the country and has a number of US Women’s national team participants including Mallory Pugh, Tobin Heath and Sam Mewis (from Massachusetts). The Scorpions 2002 ECNL girls won the Showcase Cup, beating the Tampa Bay United 3-2 in the Finals today. The Scorpions are the same club USWNT’s Sam Mewis played for in her high school years before attending UCLA.

Video: Hillers Baseball battles St. Mary's in D2 State Championship

The South Sectional Champion Hopkinton Hillers took on North Sectional Champion, St. Mary's of Lynn Spartans in the D2 State Championship this past Saturday at Alumni Field in Lowell. St. Mary's took the victory 2 to 0.

In the bottom of the 4th, the Spartans struck first with an RBI single by Lee Pacheco to score Kyle Ouelette. The only other run of the game was in the bottom of the 6th, Jarred Capolla hit an RBI single into Left Field to score Colin Reddy. Spartans Pitcher, Bobby Alcock earned the complete game shutout for the Spartans.

Ashland Post 77 got their season underway verses Newton this past Monday and they piled on the runs. Post 77 plated 2 in the 1st inning, 6 in the 2nd inning, 1 in the 3rd, 3 in the 4th and the mercy rule went into affect in the 5th after Post 77 plated another run.

Post 77 takes the 13 to 1 win over Newton in Game 1 of the season. Owen Ward pitched the complete game. Ashland followed up with a 9 to 1 win in Natick on Tuesday. Dom Cavanaugh pitched a 6 inning gem in the win.

Video: Hillers Baseball Advances to State Championship!

The 1st seeded Hopkinton Hillers battled the 7th seeded Westwood Wolverines in the Division 2 South Sectional finals. The game took place at the home of the Brockton Rox, Campanelli Stadium.

In the bottom of the 3rd, Ben Mckenzie put the 1st run of the game on the board with a solo shot. Westwood struck back in the top of the 4th and took a 2-1 lead.

Video: Hiller Baseball Takes down Stoughton in Sectional Semi-Finals

The 1st seeded Hopkinton Hillers took down 5th seeded Stoughton on Wednesday June 12th in the Sectional Semi-Finals. The Hillers won by a final of 12 to 1 and advanced to the Sectional Finals for their 1st time since 2004. The game took place at the "neutral site" of Stoughton High School. View highlights below.

The Hillers will next take on Westwood in the South Division 2 Sectional Finals, Saturday (June 15th) 10:30am at Campanelli Field in Brockton!
