"In Dream Big: A True Story of Courage and Determination, his nonfiction picture book for readers ages 6 to 10, Dave shares his unique, true story about reaching deep and showing extreme determination in the face of doubt, disappointment, and loss." For the 26th year, John Hancock brought elite Kenyan runners to Elmwood school as part of the Scholars & Stars program. This years runners included: Nobert Kigen, Wilson Chebet, Evans Chebet, Felix Kandie, Geoffrey Kirui, Philemon Rono, Stephen Sambu, Edna Kiplagat, Caroline Rotich and Gladys Chesir. Video: Marathon Runner, Becca Pizzi Speaks at Hopkinton Middle School

This past winter, for her 2nd time, Marathon Runner Becca Pizzi out of Belmont, MA completed 7 marathons on 7 different continents in 7 days. Becca became the first female to complete the 7-7-7 challenge in 2016 and in 2018 took home the Female title once again. Becca's next big event is the upcoming Boston Marathon. Hopkinton Marathon Committee to Honor Veterans on Patriots’ Day in “Year of Service” at 122nd Boston Marathon Start

In honor of Patriots’ Day, the Hopkinton Marathon Committee (HMC) honors local veterans at the start of the Boston Marathon each year. Since 2018 is the 100th anniversary of the military relay that took place instead of the traditional marathon during World War I in 1918, the Boston Athletic Association has called 2018 a “Year of Service” and is recognizing people who serve their community in many ways, including volunteering and public service.

Hopkinton Marathon Committee Selects Starters for 122nd Boston Marathon

HOPKINTON, MA (April 10, 2018)—The Hopkinton Marathon Committee (HMC) has selected three past members of the Hopkinton Marathon Committee as starters; former HMC chairman Rob Phipps will start wave two, Al Rogers, wave three, and Anne Marcy, wave four. The Boston Athletic Association will announce the starters for wave one and earlier starts later in the week.
