Video: Ashland Legion Update 7-24-2017

Ashland Post 77 defeated Somerset in game 1 of the state tournament 16 to 2 on Saturday July 22nd, which meant for the Sunday July 23rd game they earned a date with District 5 for Newton under the lights at Fino. Post 77 lost to Newton both times they played them this season. Post 77 trailed 5-0 until the bottom of the 4th in which they went on a 7 run rally. Ashland Post 77 takes them down by a final of 10 to 8 and improves their record to 2 and 0 in the state tournament and most importantly stays in the winners bracket. Post 77 next meets up with Braintree on Tuesday July 25th.

Ashland Legion Post 77 took on Somerset Post 228 in game 1 of the State Tournament at Fino Field and started the offense with 7 runs in the Top of the 1st. Post 77 took their first game of the state tournament by a final score of 16-2. The 9 inning game was mercy ruled after 7 innings since Ashland led by 10 or more.

On Wednesday July 19th, Shawn Babineau pitched a gem for Post 77 as he pitches the complete game 7 inning shutout. He gave up 7 hits and had 4 strikeouts. Post 77 took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd, Tom Onsi sacrifices and Zach Pessin scores.

With 2 outs in the bottom of the 3rd, Post 77 struck for 2 more Ben Thomas drove in Ronan Bates with an RBI single to center field, Zach Pessin then reached on an error and that was followed up by a Louis Rossi single that scored Jackson Hornung and put Ashland up 3-0 and that would be the final run of the game.

Video: Hillers Baseball Takes on Greater New Bedford in Semi-Finals

Hillers softball and baseball advanced to the Sectional Semi-finals games. Both teams went to remote locations for this round. Softball took on Milford High School at Taunton High school and lost after a good battle 6 to 3. Hillers Baseball went over to Rockland High school to try to upset 5th seeded Greater New Bedford. The game was filled with suspense the whole way and went extra innings, below, view highlights and the full classic battle.

Ashland Legion Baseball returns to HCAM and WACA TV for 4th season!

For the 4th season HCAM TV in Hopkinton and WACA TV in Ashland will air taped broadcasts of Ashland Legion Baseball Post 77 home games and a few road games! All home games will be played at Ashland Middle School. HCAM's Tom Nappi will provide play by play of the games, Larry Saklad will provide analysis during the broadcasts while WACA TV will work the camera.

HCAM-ED airs on Comcast channel 96 and on Verizon channel 31. HCAM-TV is Hopkinton's Public and Governmental channel airing on Comcast channel 8 and Verizon channel 30.

Hopkinton Hillers Playoff Update 6/6/2017

Hopkinton High School should be proud as all Hillers spring teams qualified for a postseason spot. View the playoff results for Baseball, Softball, Tennis and Lacrosse below. Baseball and Softball are left standing and will both play home games Wednesday (June 7th).

Video: Hillers Softball Defeats Dartmouth in Wild Saturday Game

On Saturday (6/3) the Hopkinton Hillers Softball team took down Dartmouth 2-1. The Hillers scored their only 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st when Lindsay Whittles hit a 2 rbi single to drive in Katy Holly and Maille Bennett. Despite the low score, this game featured a runners interference call, a Heather Holly liner that hit Maille Bennett to end a potential rally and a wild ending.
