Registration Nights are Monday, February 28th and Wednesday March 2nd. Both nights are at Ashland Middle School cafeteria from 6pm-8pm. Please download the Registration Form. Fees for the 2011 season is $250.00, which includes a $50.00 refundable deposit when the equipment is returned.

Weston Nurseries to Open Second Garden Center

Weston Nurseries of Hopkinton is opening a second Garden Center in the spring. The new Garden Center, located at 160 Pine Hills Road in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, will officially open on March 1, 2011, followed by a grand opening event on April 30, 2011.

“A second location made sense for our business because we have a pretty well recognized name in the area,” said President Peter Mezitt. “We also have a strong management team here, so it didn’t cost us, per say, to open a second location.”

Taps Vigil February 6

Please join the Hopkinton Veteran’s Celebration Committee on SUNDAY, February 6 as we join thousands of communities across America for a remembrance ceremony at the Hopkinton Senior Center at 28 Mayhew Street in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. The Committee is hosting a “Sunday Taps Vigil” starting at 7:00 p.m.

The ceremony will consist of a short tribute to American soldiers, veterans and their families and is expected to last 15 minutes. The ceremony will include the sounding of the 24 hauntingly beautiful notes of “Taps”.

Oh, what a year! 2010 was the year of many exciting activities and events that happened at the Hopkinton Senior Center. In case you’ve forgotten them, I’m here to remind you and give you a little recap of just some of the highlights from January through December, 2010.

JANUARY--- Happy New Year! On Friday, January 22, the center hosted a BEACH DAY. It was a nice way to break up the January doldrums with fun games like chair volleyball and horsehes and a nice summer menu of hamburgers and hot dogs were served for lunch in the Great Room.

Elizabeth C. Clancy, 89

Elizabeth C. Clancy, 89, died Monday, January 31, 2011 in Framingham. She was the widow of the late Dr. George F. Clancy, who died on July 9, 1996. Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (Houston) Pelkey.

Trash & Recycling Postponed for Wednesday

Trash & Recycling collection in the Town of Hopkinton is on the REGULAR SCHEDULE for Tuesday, February 1st, and has been POSTPONED for Wednesday, February 2nd due to the expected snow storms.

All trash and recycling collections beginning with Wednesday will be delayed by one day.

If your regular pick up day is Wednesday, it will be Thursday.
Please have all materials at the curb by 9:00 AM.

If your regular pick up day is Thursday, it will now be Friday.
Please have all materials at the curb by 7:00 AM.

If your regular pick up day is Friday, it will now be Saturday.

Hopkinton Senior Center will close at 12 noon --NO LUNCH

Representative Dykema Named to Four Committees

Representative Carolyn Dykema (D-Holliston) is proud to announce that she will serve on four legislative committees for the upcoming two-year session. Rep. Dykema will join, for the first time, the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing and the Joint Committee on Public Health. She will also continue serving on the Joint Committee on the Environment, Natural Resources & Agriculture and the Joint Committee on Veterans & Federal Affairs.
