High School Club Fair

Ultimate Frisbee, Model UN or Mock Trial? As summer comes to a close, and school gets back into full gear, many high schoolers are looking for fun activities to do after the school day ends. The high school sponsored club fair on September 15th was the perfect opportunity for incoming students to check out and sign up for a variety of different after school clubs and organizations. Clubs ranged from those that were fun and laidback, to those that were educationally enriching, as well as to clubs that help the community. No matter the type of activity, every student was passionate in letting others know why they should get involved with their club.

High schoolers, if you missed the club fair, you can still sign up for clubs. To learn more about a particular club, visit the high school website.

Hopkinton Fire Department Part of Technical Rescue Team Training

Fire fighters don't just respond to fires and medicals, they go to anything that people need help with. From needing help when you are locked out of your house or your cellar is flooded to hazardous materials spills or water rescues, the fire department is always ready to go when the call comes in. HCAM News caught up with the Massachusetts Southern Fire District 14 Technical Rescue Team on Wednesday, while they were training in Hopkinton.

The Massachusetts Southern Fire District 14 is made up of 23 towns surrounding Hopkinton.

E.L. Harvey Celebrates 100th Anniversary

E.L. Harvey is celebrating its 100th anniversary (1911-2011) of serving the people and businesses or New England. To thank the community, the family is inviting the residents of Hopkinton and Westborough to join them for a Community Celebration of their 100th Anniversary on Saturday, September 24 from 10am to 1pm. The celebration will be held rain or shine at the 68 Hopkinton Road, Westborough location and there will be food, beverages, music, raffles and giveaways.

Casino Gaming Update from Rep. Dykema

Yesterday evening the Massachusetts House voted to authorize casino gaming in the Commonwealth. Representative Carolyn Dykema (D-Holliston) was one of 32 “no” votes against the bill. Click here for vote tally on H.3702.

Fall is here and our children are flocking back to school. Their active, young brains need constant refueling. A healthy lunch and nutritious snacks are critical to your child’s academic success.

The FDA recommends that you keep three things in mind when preparing lunches and snacks for young scholars:

  • First, control portion size. Some “one package” items actually may contain more than one serving per package — it’s important to read labels and nutrition blocks.
