The Hopkinton Hillers hung on Friday night to defeat Dedham 62 to 60. Hillers improve to 9 and 6 (3-3 in TVL-L), Dedham falls to 9 and 5 (2-4 in TVL-L).
After celebrating their 5 seniors; Ryan Click (Team Manager), Tory Ahlstrom-Hall, Gavin Cho, Myles Heavey and Alex Piccioli, the Hillers competed in a very suspenseful back and forth game versus a very talented Dedham team.
The 1st quarter was back and forth throughout, Hillers led 17 to 16 heading into the 2nd quarter. Rocco Spinelli (JR) dropped a pair of three-pointers for the Hillers in the quarter. In the 2nd quarter, it was more back and forth but the Hillers were able to outscore Dedham 18-15 to take a 34-32 lead into the halftime break. Gavin Cho (SR), Josh Kim (JR) and Patrick Reilly (FR) each netted a pair of 2-point field goals in the quarter.
In the 3rd quarter, the Hillers picked it up from the perimeter, Gavin Cho (SR) & Rocco Spinelli (JR) each netted a pair of 3’s to help the Hillers keep pace with Dedham for a 14-14 third quarter. Hillers led 48-46 heading into the 4th quarter. The Hillers kept their speedsters in the 4th quarter and did enough in the turnover battle to hang on for the victory 62-60. Josh Kim (JR) & Rocco Spinelli (JR) netted 5 points each and got crucial turnovers in the 4th quarter to help clinch the HUGE win for the Hillers.
