Hopkinton: There’s a New Calendar in Town!

Hopkinton MA has a new portal for connecting residents to local events and activities: The Community Calendar.

The concept was first discussed at a meeting of the Community Communications Committee. As they discussed ways to bring the Town together, it became clear a logical starting point might be a calendar where Hopkinton organizations and groups could post their activities, raising awareness and interest from town residents.

Roadwork is scheduled for the following streets. All work is weather pending so dates may have to be moved forward a day or two should it rain.

Video: Selectmen & Planning Board Vote to Fill Planning Board Vacancy

At the July 10th Board of Selectmen Meeting, members of the Planning Board and Selectmen voted to fill a Planning Board Vacancy to a term ending at the 2019 Annual Town Election. Four Applications were submitted to fill the vacancy. Applicants included: Patrick Atwell, Robert Benson Jr., Matthew Kizner and Carol DeVeuve. After hearing from three of the applicants in attendance at the meeting, the vote resulted in 7 for Carol DeVeuve and 4 for Matthew Kizner. Carol will serve on the Planning Board until the 2019 Annual Town Election. View scenes from the vote below.

A whole lot of Ashland Legion Baseball took place this past week and right now we will get you updated on all the action. On Monday July 9th 7 and 2 Ashland Legion Baseball hosted Natick. Bottom of the 3rd, 1 on 2 outs, Louis Rossi drives in Ben Thomas and that is all Ashland would need. Post 77 added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6th and took the 3-0 shutout win over Natick. Shane Leary went the complete 7 inning shuout, striking out 3 and giving up only 3 hits.

Sheriff Koutoujian participates in roundtable hosted by House Bipartisan Heroin and Opioid Task Force

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian represented the National Sheriffs’ Association before the House Bipartisan Task Force on Heroin and Opioids during a roundtable discussion in Washington, D.C focused on medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for incarcerated individuals.

The task force, chaired by Representatives Annie Kuster (D- NH) and Tom MacArthur (R- NJ), is comprised of over 100 members of the U.S. House of Representatives from across the country.

Municipal Police Training Fund Legislation Passes State Senate, Now Heading to Governor Baker

The Massachusetts State Senate passed House Bill 4516 today to create a dedicated revenue source for the Commonwealth’s municipal police training committee. With today’s vote, the legislation will now head to Governor Baker for his signature. Today’s legislation passed unanimously) and will fund critical needs for police training.

Video: Hopkinton Public Library Opens Saturdays

The Hopkinton Public Library celebrated their 1st Saturday open on July 14th. The Hopkinton Public Library will now be open to the public every Saturday from 10am until 4pm. The festivities featured a town-wide scavenger hunt, a dedication of the Hopkinton 300th Anniversary time capsule bench as well as refreshments and other various activities. Inez Globman, 95

Inez Globman, 95, of Hopkinton, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. Born in Meriden, CT, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (White) and Samuel Umansky. She was the former wife of Benjamin Globman.
