Hopkinton Women’s Club Newsletter for October 19, 2020 meeting

The Hopkinton Women’s Club, celebrating our 100th year, will be holding its monthly meeting Monday, October 19 at 10:00 a.m. Guests are always welcomed. Our Mission is Scholarship & Awards, Community Service, Educational and Social Events The meeting will be held via Zoom.

The program will be a talk about the founder of the HWC by Anne Mattina of Stonehill College.

According to the DPW weather station, the highest temperature reached in Hopkinton September 28th through October 4th 2020 was 78.6 degrees, the lowest was 35.9 degrees. Average temperature during the week in Hopkinton was 60.9 degrees. Humidity was at an average of 81%, the peak was 98% while the lowest was 34%. Rain accumulated 0.72 inches last week. Hopkinton Community Partnership to Host Halloween themed "Dress Up and Drive Thru" on October 24th

On October 24th at Faith Community Church, the Hopkinton Community Partnership is hosting a Halloween themed "Dress Up and Drive Thru" at Faith Community Church.

The event will be $20 admission per vehicle and will feature drive thru decorated vehicles, haunted DJ Music, Candy Bags for all and a Halloween Edition Crazed Mom Candle with each admission.

The Hopkinton Women's Club, celebrating 100 years, is selling very popular hand-painted wooden multi-seasonal signs to raise money for their Scholarship Fund. ORDER BY October 19! Ann Louise Forrest, 87

Ann Louise Forrest, 87, of Hopkinton, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Mabel (Melanson) and Richard Doucette. She was the wife of the late Kenneth David Forrest.

Ann had worked for the telephone company until 1967. She was an active daily participant at St. John the Evangelist Church. She enjoyed taking care of her yard, especially her plants and flowers.

News Segment: Hiller's Cleaners Keeps Working Through Pandemic

Hiller's Cleaners has locations at 63 Main Street in Hopkinton and 3 Main Street in Southborough and like many businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic has struggled but Owner, George Vrahliotis businesses are doing what they can to keep on going. Residents Asked to Review Temporary Sign Regulations

Due to the proliferation of home/residential signage displayed in town within the last six months, the Town of Hopkinton is requesting the help of its residents regarding the display of temporary signs. The temporary sign regulations are contained in Zoning Bylaw § 210-179, and the enforcement of temporary sign regulations falls under the purview of the Building Department. The Zoning Bylaw recognizes the right to display signage, but also delineates the number of signs and the period of time that such signs may be displayed.

Enter Stage Left Theater Merges with Hopkinton Center for the Arts

Enter Stage Left Theater (ESL), a community theater arts organization, has merged with the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) effective September 15, 2020. The move is a welcome one to both groups and will allow them to better structure resources and to support each other in a more meaningful way. ESL, a mostly volunteer organization, has been the resident theater company at the HCA since 2010 where it produces 10 to 12 productions a year.
