Rep.Dykema Hosts Hopkinton Scouts at State House

Representative Carolyn C. Dykema was pleased to host Girl Scout Troop 2227 from Hopkinton last week on Thursday June 23rd.

“One of the joys of being a legislator is seeing our young people’s enthusiasm for government and their desire to make a difference in our communities.” said Dykema. “I had a wonderful time speaking with such interested and engaged students.”

During their visit, the scouts were recognized in the chamber and held a mock session with Rep. Dykema to debate and vote on a pending bill. Members of Troop 2227 attending and shown in the attached photo are:

Water Department Testing on Tuesday

Please be advised that a required fire flow test will take place on West Main Street by the South Street intersection, Tuesday, June 28th, at approximately 10AM and should last approximately 20 minutes. Due to the scouring of the minerals on the inside of the pipe, you may notice some discoloration during and after the test. Please avoid doing any laundry, dishwasher loads or other water use activities, during this time. Any discoloration that may occur will eventually dissipate.

Become a Part of Take Care's Communal Album Art!

The Hopkinton based Take Care band was formed in the fall of 2008 when brothers Kyle and Dan, better known as DJ, Joseph began writing music together. Take Care has now been together for just over two years and produced their first album, Awakenasleep, in July of 2009.

Educate Hopkinton Formalizes its Structure and Applies for 501(c)(4) Status

Educate Hopkinton (EH) has been a civic group in Hopkinton since 2007, organized by an informal Steering Committee, operating a website and mass email list at minimal cost. When the group began it had only 80 subscribers on its email list, but the number has grown over the years and EH now has over 440 subscribers. Email subscriptions are free and available to all Hopkinton residents and business owners regardless of their political views.

Hopkins School Flash Mob

Hopkins students, teachers and parents gathered in the gym on June 21st for the last school-wide assembly of the year. To commemorate the last day of school, the students entertained the crowd by performing skits about subjects that they had discussed throughout the year. From prepositional phrases to songs about books they had read, and a reprisal of the Lewis and Clark song, the kids creatively showed off how much they had learned.

School Council Representatives Needed for 2011-2012

Even though the school year is just ending, it’s not too early to start thinking about next year and how you can make a difference in your child’s education! The HPTA is currently seeking candidates for the School Councils for the 2011-2012 school year. Duties include: adopting goals for the school, identifying educational needs for students, reviewing the school’s budget, and formulating a school improvement plan.
