The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will release draft Amendment Five of the federal fiscal years (FFYs) 2015–18 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and draft Amendment One of the FFY 2015 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) for a 30-day public review period, which will begin on Monday, August 3, 2015, and end at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2015.

The TIP details the plans for financing highway and transit projects in the region from FFY 2015 through FFY 2018. Amendment Five will address a cost increase to the Improvements on Dedham Street/Canton Street project in Canton and reflect that the project will be funded with federal aid instead of non-federal aid.

The UPWP describes funding for transportation-planning studies and activities that will be completed in FFY 2015. Amendment One will remove a mapping study and transfer the funding for it to another study, which is focused on improving bicycle and pedestrian access to MBTA stations on the Fairmount commuter rail line. It will also remove a land-use analysis task and transfer the funding to a task focused on analyzing the potential for transit-oriented development at various locations.

The draft TIP Amendment Five and draft UPWP Amendment One will be available on the MPO’s website, www.bostonmpo.org, starting on August 3. The MPO is scheduled to vote on both amendments at its meeting on September 3, 2015, at 10:00 AM, in conference rooms 2 and 3 of the State Transportation Building, 10 Park Plaza, in Boston.
