(September 26, 2014 – Hopkinton, MA) – The Hopkinton Center for the Arts has announced the return of its annual Paint the Town campaign, a fundraising effort that supports a capital campaign to realize a regional visual and performing arts center in Hopkinton, MA. The Paint the Town campaign runs October 1-December 31, 2014, and all tax-deductible donations directly influence the completion of a renovated and expanded arts center at the historic 98 Hayden Rowe Street property.

The Paint the Town campaign serves two purposes: to both raise funds for and to raise awareness of the fundraising campaign spearheaded by the Hopkinton Community Endowment, a community organization that has partnered with the HCA to make the arts center project possible. “This project has been in the works for years, and after a string of fundraising successes, the momentum is speeding up towards the finish line,” said Kelly Grill, Executive Director of the HCA, referring to recent private donations and a large grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council of $450,000. Grill continued, “Construction has continued in phases over the past year, and with support from our community we can make this dream a reality – a fully functioning cultural center for the entire region!”

Through contributions at various levels, donors receive garden flags and other tokens of gratitude for their support. The colorful and eye-catching flags themselves will be displayed in donors’ yards, which “paint the town” in support of the arts center and its capital campaign. Donations up to $99 receive Paint the Town magnets, while donations over $100 receive a garden flag. Donations over $250 will receive the garden flag plus a gift certificate for a class or workshop at the Arts Center, and donations above $500 receive a flag, the gift certificate and a pair of tickets to a donor reception and showing of A USO Christmas, a tribute show performed the HCA’s resident theater company, Enter Stage Left Theater.

The campaign kicks off October 1, 2014, and donations can be made online through the HCA as well as by cash or check. But, in addition to donating, the HCA has stressed that a major way community members can help is simply by sharing the fundraising campaign’s information with neighbors, family and friends. Information about the campaign and ways to donate will be shared across multiple print and online outlets, which capital campaign chair Sandy Lucchesi hopes will make it easier for the community to learn more about the Arts Center and this fundraising effort. “The power of word-of-mouth or social media sharing is immeasurable,” said Lucchesi. “We’re painting the town with flags, but we can also paint the town through these other ways. If you can’t make a monetary contribution, helping us in this way is just as valuable.”

During this time, the community can also look forward to updates about the campaign, including new renderings of the space, photos from the construction site, sneak peeks at interior furnishings and design elements, and written correspondence outlining progress of the fundraising effort and upcoming construction.
