Ashland beats Natick 9-3 and is 6 and 0 on the Season

On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon for Baseball, Nick Burns took the Hill for Ashland Post 77 and pitched a nice game. Burns lasted 6 innings, striking out 8 and giving up 2 Runs on 7 Hits.

Ashland scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning off of Natick starter Zach Blecher;
Chris Moberg crushed an RBI Double to drive in Nick Burns 1-0
Matt Jeye RBI Single scores Moberg 2-0

Natick plated a run in the 2nd as Jackson Coughlin hit an RBI Double to score Adam Mooney 2-1

Ashland scored runs in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th.
Bottom of 3rd Inning: RBI Single by Matt Jeye scores Reed Pike 3-1

Bottom of 4th Inning Ashland added 3 Runs:
Brandon Thurber hit an RBI Double scoring Steven Mahoney 4-1
Nick Burns hit an RBI Single, Thurber Scores 5-1
Matt Jeye hit an RBI Single, Burns Scores 6-1

Top 5th: Brady Furdon hit an RBI single to score Jackson Coughlin for Natick 6-2

Bottom of the 5th Ashland added a security run:
Nick Porter scores on throwing error 7-2

Bottom of the 6th Ashland plated 2 more;
Matt Jeye Sac GO scores Chris Moberg 8-2
Kyle Goulet RBI Single scores Nick Porter 9-2

Connor Birch gave up a run in relief for Burns in the 7th as T.J. Collins scores on Wild Pitch 9-3.

Ashland pitching had another terrific day and heading into Wednesday, Post 77 had a team ERA of less than 0.50. Nick Burns is now 2 and 0 on the season with 19 strikeouts in 2 appearances. The offensive player of the day was Chris Moberg who went 3 for 4 with a Double, Single and absolutely crushed a ball for a Triple in the 6th, he also scored 2 Runs and had an RBI.

Ashland Post 77 is a force to be reckoned with in District 5 Baseball and is the only undefeated team in either zone. Ashland is very well built, versatile, experienced and with the wide array of talent on the roster, they could be making a deep post season run.
