Her Excellency Alexandra Papadopoulou Ambassador of Greece to the United States 22117 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. Washington DC 20008
Dear Ambassador Papadopoulou,

The town of Hopkinton, Massachusetts extends its warm congratulations to the people of Greece as they celebrate the 200th anniversary of Greek independence on March 25th,

Hopkinton likewise commends the Greek-American community for its contribution to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and to the United States, and its role as a bridge between the two nations.

The town shares strong and deep connections with Greece, most notably through its role as the starting point for the famed Boston Marathon. Hopkinton and its residents, partner with the Greek Consulate and regional Greek community on numerous Marathon-related activities and programs; support education programs designed to strengthen Greek studies in area schools, and art projects to honor famous Greek athletes; and have built enduring international relationships with sister-city Marathon, Greece.

We recognize and note the key role Greece has played in Europe and the world in the development and support of human rights, in the dignity of the individual, and in democracy itself, and hereby extend our most sincere best wishes.

Sincerely,
Brendan Tedstone. Town Of Hopkinton, Select Board Chair.
