Artist Talk, Demonstration, and Art Exhibit with
Paula DeSimone

at Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA), 98 Hayden Rowe St.
Artist Paula DeSimone will present an artist talk and demonstration Unique Impressions: Monotype, The Creative Process.
A body of Paula’s latest work, Unique Impressions: Monotype, The Creative Process, will be on display at the HCA (Barn Loft Gallery) between 11/15/2018 – 12/11/2018.
About the Artist:
Paula DeSimone is an artist, author, and educator with over 30 years of experience in arts education and has taught at such prestigious institutions as RISD - Continuing Education, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Fuller Craft Museum, the Attleboro Arts Museum, and the DeCordova Museum.
She is the author of four books on the subject of surface painting and is credited for developing a Certificate Program in Decorative Painting at Rhode Island School of Design, CE.
DeSimone is a current member of the Cambridge Art Association, as well as the Monotype Guild of New England. Currently, she is teaching Studio Painting Courses at the Danforth Art Museum School, FSU.
Her work is held in the prestigious hospital and corporate collections including: Children’s Hospital, Boston – New Research Building, Life Science Center and Corporate Offices; Children’s Hospital, Waltham and Lexington; Newton Wellesley Hospital; U-Mass Memorial, Worcester; East Boston Neighborhood Health Center; and Goldman-Sachs Corporate Collection, New York.
DeSimone’s colorful and multi-layered works, paintings and monotypes have been selected into major International and National Juried Exhibitions.
In this talk and demo Unique Impressions: Monotype, The Creative Process, she invites the audience to explore through a visual journey, layers of transparent and textural effects while the underlying theme is unfolded. Striking a balance between intuitiveness and an intellectual response to the printmaking process is of itself a work in progress.
