Dorothy 'Dottie' Poindexter, 75, Bradenton, died Dec. 9, 2016 at Blake Medical Center.
Born in Newton, MA, she moved to Bradenton in 1969 from Safety Harbor, FL and previously from Hopkinton, MA. She worked for The Bradenton Herald, then Poindexter & Sons Farm Supply in Ellenton, retired from Manatee County Government Public Works Department as Assistant Director, then for The City of Bradenton Beach as Director of Public Works.

She had two sons and raised several children through the Foster Parenting Programs.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, and she enjoyed NBA games. Predeceased by son, Robert Poindexter; survived by son, John Poindexter; brother, Gerald McLean; her grandchildren, Aaron, Elizabeth, Brooke, Baron and Christian; great-granddaughter, Scout.
Visitation is 5-7 PM on Thurs. Dec, 15th with services to follow at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory,
43rd Street Chapel.

She will be interred at Manasota Memorial Park in Oneco next to her parents, John Robert & Elna McLean.
Memorial donations may be made to the Manatee County Animal Shelter.
