Paved Paradise

The select board “powers that be” claim they won’t be touching an inch of the town common, and yet a huge swath of grass abutting the stone wall will disappear, i.e., tarred over, sacrificed on the altar of “downtown improvement”. This parcel has been our historical heritage; utilized, understood, and cherished as part and parcel of our green gem. So what flick of the forked tongue excuses this disparity? Oh, they say, it isn’t technically within the legalistic boundaries of the blueprint. Well guess what, there’s another rule, it’s called “Possession is 9/10ths of the law”, and the common folk make the common law, and we say “Keep your hands off our town common, ALL of it!!”
