I am writing to support the reelection of Jean Bertschmann for School Committee. I know Jean ‘in passing.’ I have run into her at every school event, literally every event, over the last ten years and in the last six years have had multiple conversations with her before or after each of the district’s searches for new Principals, Superintendents, and most recently, the hiring of our new Director of Student Services (SpEd Director). Jean asks tough questions and does not rubber stamp budget items because they are requested but because she finds they will promote positive change for our students. She listens to our constituent groups and works collaboratively. Jean has transparent communication and makes fiscally responsible decisions. We are fortunate to have a high performing district but our district is not only comprised of high performing students. I believe Jean represents all learners when she formulates her strategic decisions. Our town benefits tremendously from Jean’s tireless dedication in doing her homework and representing all children and taxpayers, which is why I will be voting to reelect Jean Bertschmann on May 18.
