Eliza Wadsworth McMechan Bridges: An American Life

Eliza Wadsworth McMechan Bridges, born in Mississippi in 1870, was the daughter of Hopkinton native Linnie Wadsworth and William McMechan. After tge loss of both parents before her first birthday, Eliza was brought back to Hopkinton by two of her maternal aunts where she was raised by Frances E. Wadsworth and her husband Daniel T. Bridges. An 1892 graduate of Smith College, Eliza went on to earn a law degree from Boston University.

Join us on Sunday, December 13 at 2:00 PM at the Hopkinton Historical Society for the story of her life, which takes us from the aftermath of the Civil War through the Suffrage Movement, and town life in Hopkinton at the last turn of the century. The presentation is given by Anne Mattina, Hopkinton resident and Communication Department Chair at Stonehill College, North Easton, MA. It is free and open to the public.
