This morning at approximately 7:45 a.m., several staff members reported to the Elmwood School main office that an odor of gas was detected outside of the school building in the parking lot. To insure the safety of our students and staff members, everyone was immediately evacuated to the Elmwood gymnasium right from their school buses and parent drop-off, where no odor was present.

Upon inspection, the Fire Department determined that the inside of the building was safe. NSTAR was also called as a precautionary measure to determine the location and cause of the odor outside of the building.

The Fire Department subsequently gave an “all-clear” sign. All students and staff were then permitted to reenter the main part of the building to resume classes.
