By contributor,

Pack a picnic, bring a blanket, and come enjoy a night of Shakespeare under the stars as Enter Stage Left Theater presents one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The performances will be held on August 2, 3, and 4 at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts Amphitheater, 98 Hayden Rowe Street. The performances are free and begin at 7:30 p.m.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is about the marriage of the Duke of Athens and the Queen of the Amazons, and features fairies, actors, and lots of merry mischief. The cast ranges in age from 14 years to adult, and is directed by Equity actor Tom Gleadow, who has performed in productions for Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, and The Gamm Theater. There will also be very colorful and creative costumes created by Michael Geary and Marco Paulo Carneiro.

“This is our first Shakespearian play and our first theater performance outside, so we are very excited about this,” said Kelly Grill, executive director of the Hopkinton Center for the Arts. “We are especially pleased to be working with the highly respected Tom Gleadow, who shares our vision for bringing Shakespeare to this area. It should be fun evening for all ages.”

Grill added that theater-goers are welcome to come early with their picnic dinners before the performance, but noted that alcohol is not allowed on the premises.
