In an email to parents this afternoon, Superintendent Dr. Steven Hiersche announced that Mr. Evan Bishop has been appointed Interim Principal at Hopkinton High School, replacing Alyson Geary who will be departing at the end of December. His interim term will be from January 1, 2013 to June 30, 2013. Mr. Bishop is currently an Assistant Principal at Hopkinton High and started in Hopkinton in 2005 as a guidance counselor before being promoted to assistant principal in 2009.

"Mr. Bishop is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and continued focus on the incredible work at Hopkinton High School," said Hiersche. "His organizational skills and work with students, staff and parents is exemplary. I am looking forward to working with him in his new role."

According to Hiersche, making the decision at his time ensures a lengthy overlap with Ms. Geary that is necessary due to the on-going work of the high school staff.

"Mr. Bishop has high expectations for all students and with the administrative team will continue to provide a high performing environment for students," continued Hiersche.

The process to replace Mr. Bishop for the interim period will also begin now, and after the first of the year, the search for a permanent high school principal, to start work on July 1, 2013, will begin.
