I am pleased to announce my candidacy for the Hopkinton School Committee. My wife Eve Voegeli and I have made Hopkinton our home for nearly 20 years. We have four children, all of whom attend Hopkinton public schools.

I am currently a member of the Appropriations Committee (School Committee liaison), have previously served the community on the SPEAC Board (Special Education Advisory), Elementary School Criteria Working Group, and as a youth softball/baseball coach. Professionally, I am the Vice President of continuous improvement at a global life sciences company. I have previously held senior management positions in the biotechnology, management consulting, software, and high-tech manufacturing industries. I hold an MBA from Babson College as well as BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.

My three primary objectives as a member of the School Committee will be to:
(1) Further improve the quality of education for all children in Hopkinton
(2) Optimize the use of precious tax dollars
(3) Increase transparency, accountability and overall public confidence in this critical government body

Throughout my career, I have driven dramatic performance improvements at large corporate and public sector organizations. Executive coaching, deliberate long-range planning, prioritized execution, critical performance analysis, and creative thinking are always amongst the key elements that enable significant performance gains. I'd like to advance the same approach to take our schools to the next level of performance.

I will bring a fresh perspective, an open mind, and a desire to listen to all members of the community. I am connected neither to special interests nor aligned to preferred programs. Our district faces major strategic and financial decisions, and I vow to represent the entire community in these critical decisions.

If elected to the School Committee, I will apply my management skills, experience in our schools/community, and passion for education to help Hopkinton's children receive a world-class education at a cost that will not force parents and grandparents to leave Hopkinton after their families graduate from our schools.

More information on me, our schools, and the role of a school committee member can be obtained at www.sivoforsc.org. I thank you in advance for your interest in this critical election and hope to earn your vote on May 19th.
